⁹ Of sin, because they believe not on me;

¹⁶ He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be condemned.

¹⁸ He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. ¹⁹ And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ For everyone that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. ²¹ But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are worked in God.

⁴⁰ And you will not come to me, that you might have life. ⁴¹ I receive not honor from men. ⁴² But I know you, that you have not the love of God in you. ⁴³ I am come in my Father's name, and you receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him you will receive. ⁴⁴ How can you believe, who receive honor one of another, and seek not the honor that comes from God only?

²³ And he said unto them, You are from beneath; I am from above: you are of this world; I am not of this world. ²⁴ I said therefore unto you, that you shall die in your sins: for if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sins.

⁴² Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, you would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. ⁴³ Why do you not understand my speech? even because you cannot hear my word. ⁴⁴ You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. ⁴⁵ And because I tell you the truth, you believe me not. ⁴⁶ Which of you convicts me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do you not believe me? ⁴⁷ He that is of God hears God's words: you therefore hear them not, because you are not of God.

⁴⁷ And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. ⁴⁸ He that rejects me, and receives not my words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

²² If I had not come and spoken unto them, they would not have sin: but now they have no cover for their sin. ²³ He that hates me hates my Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done among them the works which no other man did, they would not have sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. ²⁵ But this comes to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

²² You men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as you yourselves also know: ²³ Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: ²⁴ Whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be held by it. ²⁵ For David spoke concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: ²⁶ Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: ²⁷ Because you will not leave my soul in hades, neither will you allow your Holy One to see corruption. ²⁸ You have made known to me the ways of life; you shall make me full of joy with your countenance. ²⁹ Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulcher is with us unto this day. ³⁰ Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of his descendants, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; ³¹ He seeing this before spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hades, neither his flesh did see corruption. ³² This Jesus has God raised up, of which we all are witnesses. ³³ Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured forth this, which you now see and hear. ³⁴ For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he said himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit on my right hand, ³⁵ Until I make your foes your footstool. ³⁶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God has made that same Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ. ³⁷ Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their hearts, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? ³⁸ Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁴ But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; ¹⁵ And killed the Prince of life, whom God has raised from the dead; of which we are witnesses. ¹⁶ And his name through faith in his name has made this man strong, whom you see and know: yea, the faith which is by him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all. ¹⁷ And now, brethren, I know that through ignorance you did it, as did also your rulers. ¹⁸ But those things, which God before had showed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he has so fulfilled. ¹⁹ Repent therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

⁵¹ You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you do always resist the Holy Spirit: as your fathers did, so do you. ⁵² Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them who showed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom you have been now the betrayers and murderers: ⁵³ Who have received the law as delivered by angels, and have not kept it. ⁵⁴ When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.

⁹ I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. ¹⁰ Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.

¹⁹ Now we know that whatsoever things the law says, it says to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. ²⁰ Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

⁹ For I was alive apart from the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

¹⁵ Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: ¹⁶ Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins always: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

¹³ Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and insolent: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

¹² Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

²⁸ He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: ²⁹ Of how much worse punishment, suppose you, shall he be thought worthy, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has done insult unto the Spirit of grace?
