² And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the creditor, so with the debtor.

⁵⁰ And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Potiphera priest of On bore unto him.

³⁶ Take you no interest from him, or profit: but fear your God; that your brother may live with you. ³⁷ You shall not lend him your money at interest, nor lend him your food for profit.

¹⁹ You shall not charge interest to your brother; interest on money, interest on food, interest on anything that is lent for interest: ²⁰ Unto a stranger you may lend for interest; but unto your brother you shall not lend for interest: that the LORD your God may bless you in all that you set your hand to in the land where you go to possess it.

¹⁴ Moreover all the leaders of the priests, and the people, transgressed very much according to all the abominations of the nations; and polluted the house of the LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem. ¹⁵ And the LORD God of their fathers sent word to them by his messengers, sending them time and again; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: ¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy. ¹⁷ Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that was stooped for age: he gave them all into his hand.

²⁰ And those that had escaped from the sword he carried away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the rule of the kingdom of Persia:

⁹ And man bows down, and the great man humbles himself: therefore forgive them not.

² The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the elder, ³ The captain of fifty, and the honorable man, and the counselor, and the skilled craftsman, and the eloquent orator. ⁴ And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them. ⁵ And the people shall be oppressed, everyone by another, and everyone by his neighbor: the child shall behave himself proudly against the elder, and the base against the honorable. ⁶ When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, you have clothing, be our ruler, and let this ruin be under your hand: ⁷ In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be a healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people. ⁸ For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their deeds are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

¹⁵ And man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:

¹⁴ Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, palm branch and reed, in one day. ¹⁵ The elder and honorable, he is the head; and the prophet that teaches lies, he is the tail. ¹⁶ For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led by them are destroyed. ¹⁷ Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for everyone is a hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

³ O LORD, are not your eyes upon the truth? you have stricken them, but they have not grieved; you have consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return. ⁴ Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the law of their God. ⁵ I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the law of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds. ⁶ Therefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the desert shall destroy them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: everyone that goes out there shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased.

¹¹ For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, says the LORD. ¹² Therefore their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall in it: for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their punishment, says the LORD. ¹³ And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.

² Then arose Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men that were with him, and struck Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan with the sword, and killed him, whom the king of Babylon had made governor over the land.

¹⁸ For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As my anger and my fury has been poured forth upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem; so shall my fury be poured forth upon you, when you shall enter into Egypt: and you shall be an oath, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach; and you shall see this place no more.

¹¹ Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for a catastrophe, and to cut off all Judah. ¹² And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an oath, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach. ¹³ For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:

²⁴ And the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the door: ²⁵ He took also out of the city a eunuch, who had charge of the men of war; and seven men of them that were the king’s counsel, who were found in the city; and the principal scribe of the army, who mustered the people of the land; and threescore men of the people of the land, that were found in the midst of the city. ²⁶ So Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah. ²⁷ And the king of Babylon struck them, and put them to death in Riblah in the land of Hamath. Thus Judah was carried away captive out of its own land. ²⁸ These are the people whom Nebuchadnezzar carried away captive: in the seventh year three thousand Jews and three and twenty: ²⁹ In the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar he carried away captive from Jerusalem eight hundred thirty and two persons: ³⁰ In the three and twentieth year of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred forty and five persons: all the persons were four thousand and six hundred.

¹³ For the sins of her prophets, and the iniquities of her priests, that have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her,

¹² Princes were hung up by their hands: the faces of elders were not honored. ¹³ They took the young men to grind, and the children stagger under loads of wood. ¹⁴ The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their music.

¹² The time has come, the day draws near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn: for wrath is upon all their multitude. ¹³ For the seller shall not return to that which is sold, although they were yet alive: for the vision concerns the whole multitude, which shall not return; neither shall any strengthen himself in the iniquity of his life.

⁸ And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and you shall know that I am the LORD. ⁹ And if the prophet is deceived when he has spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel. ¹⁰ And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that inquired of him;

⁵ We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from your precepts and from your judgments: ⁶ Neither have we hearkened unto your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. ⁷ O Lord, righteousness belongs unto you, but unto us shame of face, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries where you have driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against you. ⁸ O Lord, to us belongs shame of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against you.

⁹ And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them for their deeds.

⁸ Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man does, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. ⁹ And, you masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.
