A Psalm of David.] Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: you have delivered me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer. ² O you sons of men, how long will you turn my glory into shame? how long will you love vanity, and seek after falsehood? Selah. ³ But know that the LORD has set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him. ⁴ Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. ⁵ Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD. ⁶ There are many that say, Who will show us any good? LORD, lift up the light of your countenance upon us. ⁷ You have put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their grain and their wine increased. ⁸ I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for you, LORD, only make me dwell in safety.

Selah. ⁸ I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest. ⁹ Destroy, O Lord, and confuse their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city. ¹⁰ Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it. ¹¹ Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets. ¹² For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him: ¹³ But it was you, a man my equal, my guide, and my close friend. ¹⁴ We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company. ¹⁵ Let death seize upon them, and let them go down alive into the grave: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them. ¹⁶ As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me. ¹⁷ Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. ¹⁸ He has delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many against me. ¹⁹ God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abides of old. Because they do not change, therefore they fear not God. ²⁰ He has put forth his hands against such as were at peace with him: he has broken his covenant. ²¹ The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords. ²² Cast your burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain you: he shall never permit the righteous to be moved. ²³ But you, O God, shall bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in you.

A Song or Psalm.] God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. ² That your way may be known upon earth, your saving health among all nations. ³ Let the people praise you, O God; let all the people praise you. ⁴ O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for you shall judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah. ⁵ Let the people praise you, O God; let all the people praise you. ⁶ Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. ⁷ God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.

Selah. ⁴ You are more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey. ⁵ The stouthearted are plundered, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might can lift their hands. ⁶ At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep. ⁷ You, even you, are to be feared: and who may stand in your sight when once you are angry? ⁸ You did cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still, ⁹ When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah. ¹⁰ Surely the wrath of man shall praise you: the remainder of wrath shall you restrain. ¹¹ Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared. ¹² He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is fearful to the kings of the earth.

² Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song; he also has become my salvation.

²⁴ Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.

¹⁴ Then shall you delight yourself in the LORD; and I will cause you to ride upon the heights of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.

¹² And I will strengthen them in the LORD; and they shall walk up and down in his name, says the LORD.

⁹ And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather boast in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. ¹⁰ Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

¹⁶ That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

¹³ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

¹¹ Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
