¹ Cast your bread upon the waters: for you shall find it after many days. ² Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for you know not what evil shall be upon the earth. ³ If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree falls toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falls, there it shall be. ⁴ He that observes the wind shall not sow; and he that regards the clouds shall not reap. ⁵ As you know not what is the way of the wind, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so you know not the works of God who makes all. ⁶ In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening withhold not your hand: for you know not which shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both alike shall be good. ⁷ Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to behold the sun: ⁸ But if a man lives many years, and rejoices in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they shall be many. All that comes is vanity. ⁹ Rejoice, O young man, in your youth; and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes: but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment. ¹⁰ Therefore remove sorrow from your heart, and put away evil from your flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

⁶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

² That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

³⁰ But the soul that does anything presumptuously, whether he is born in the land, or is a stranger, the same reproaches the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

³⁹ And it shall be unto you a tassel, that you may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that you seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which you use to follow harlotry:

³² And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Why have you struck your donkey these three times? behold, I went out to withstand you, because your way is perverse before me:

⁷ If there be among you a poor man of one of your brethren within any of your gates in your land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your poor brother: ⁸ But you shall open your hand wide unto him, and shall surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he lacks. ⁹ Beware that there be not a thought in your wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and your eye be evil against your poor brother, and you give him nothing; and he cries unto the LORD against you, and it be sin in you. ¹⁰ You shall surely give to him, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give unto him: because for this thing the LORD your God shall bless you in all your works, and in all that you put your hand unto. ¹¹ For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command you, saying, you shall open your hand wide unto your brother, to your poor, and to your needy, in your land.

¹⁹ And it comes to pass, when he hears the words of this curse, that he blesses himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of my heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:

²⁹ O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!

⁹ Who does great things and unsearchable; marvelous things without number:

¹⁹ He shall deliver you in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch you.

²² A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shadow of death, without any order, and where the light is as darkness.

²⁶ For you write bitter things against me, and make me possess the iniquities of my youth.

¹⁰ But man dies, and wastes away: yea, man expires, and where is he?

⁷ If my step has turned out of the way, and my heart walked after my eyes, and if any spot has cleaved to my hands;

²³ As for the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in abundant justice: he will not afflict.

⁴ Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if you have understanding. ⁵ Who has determined the measures thereof, if you know? or who has stretched the line upon it? ⁶ On what are its foundations fastened? or who laid its cornerstone; ⁷ When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? ⁸ Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? ⁹ When I made the clouds its garment, and thick darkness its swaddling band, ¹⁰ And prescribed bounds for it, and set bars and doors, ¹¹ And said, Thus far shall you come, but no farther: and here shall your proud waves be stopped? ¹² Have you commanded the morning since your days began; and caused the dawn to know its place; ¹³ That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it? ¹⁴ It is turned as clay under the seal; and they stand out as a garment. ¹⁵ And from the wicked their light is withheld, and the uplifted arm shall be broken. ¹⁶ Have you entered into the springs of the sea? or have you walked in search of the depths? ¹⁷ Have the gates of death been revealed unto you? or have you seen the doors of the shadow of death? ¹⁸ Have you perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if you know it all. ¹⁹ Where is the way where light dwells? and as for darkness, where is its place, ²⁰ That you should take it to its domain, and that you should know the paths to its home? ²¹ Do you know it, because you were born then? or because the number of your days is great? ²² Have you entered into the treasury of the snow? or have you seen the treasury of the hail, ²³ Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war? ²⁴ By what way is the light distributed, which scatters the east wind upon the earth? ²⁵ Who has divided a channel for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder; ²⁶ To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, in which there is no man; ²⁷ To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender grass to spring forth? ²⁸ Has the rain a father? or who has begotten the drops of dew? ²⁹ Out of whose womb came the ice? and the frost from heaven, who has given it birth? ³⁰ The waters harden like a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.

⁴ Their young ones become strong, they grow up in the open; they go forth, and return not unto them. ⁵ Who has let the wild donkey go free? or who has loosed the bonds of the wild donkey? ⁶ Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings. ⁷ He scorns the multitude of the city, neither regards he the shouts of the driver. ⁸ The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searches after every green thing. ⁹ Will the wild ox be willing to serve you, or abide by your crib? ¹⁰ Can you bind the wild ox with ropes in the furrow? or will he plow the valleys behind you? ¹¹ Will you trust him, because his strength is great? or will you leave your labor to him? ¹² Will you believe him, that he will bring home your grain, and gather it into your barn? ¹³ Gave you the proud wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich? ¹⁴ Which leaves her eggs in the earth, and warms them in dust, ¹⁵ And forgets that the foot may crush them, or that a wild beast may break them. ¹⁶ She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers: her labor is in vain without concern; ¹⁷ Because God has deprived her of wisdom, neither has he imparted to her understanding. ¹⁸ When she lifts up herself high, she scorns the horse and his rider. ¹⁹ Have you given the horse strength? have you clothed his neck with thunder? ²⁰ Can you make him afraid like a grasshopper? the majesty of his snorting is terrible. ²¹ He paws in the valley, and rejoices in his strength: he goes out to meet the armed men. ²² He mocks at fear, and is not frightened; neither turns he back from the sword. ²³ The quiver rattles against him, the glittering spear and the javelin. ²⁴ He swallows the ground with fierceness and rage: neither does he halt at the sound of the trumpet. ²⁵ He says among the trumpets, Aha; and he smells the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting. ²⁶ Does the hawk fly by your wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south? ²⁷ Does the eagle mount up at your command, and make her nest on high? ²⁸ She dwells and abides on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the stronghold. ²⁹ From there she seeks the prey, and her eyes behold afar off. ³⁰ Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.

⁷ Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to your mercy remember me for your goodness' sake, O LORD.

⁵ Behold, you have made my days as a handbreadth; and my age is as nothing before you: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.

⁵ Many, O LORD my God, are your wonderful works which you have done, and your thoughts which are toward us: they cannot be recounted in order unto you: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

¹ [To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.] Blessed is he that considers the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. ² The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and you will not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

⁴ He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people. ⁵ Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice. ⁶ And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah.

¹³ For you have delivered my soul from death: will not you deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?

⁹ You visit the earth, and water it: you greatly enrich it with the river of God, which is full of water: you prepare them grain, when you have so provided for it. ¹⁰ You water its ridges abundantly: you settle its furrows: you make it soft with showers: you bless its growth. ¹¹ You crown the year with your goodness; and your paths drop fatness. ¹² They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side. ¹³ The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with grain; they shout for joy, they also sing.

¹² So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels.

¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

⁷ For we are consumed by your anger, and by your wrath are we troubled. ⁸ You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your countenance. ⁹ For all our days are passed away in your wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told. ¹⁰ The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. ¹¹ Who knows the power of your anger? even according to your fear, so is your wrath.

⁵ O LORD, how great are your works! and your thoughts are very deep.

²⁴ O LORD, how manifold are your works! in wisdom have you made them all: the earth is full of your riches.

⁹ He has dispersed, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his strength shall be exalted with honor.

⁵ They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. ⁶ He that goes forth weeping, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

¹³ For you have formed my inward parts: you have covered me in my mother's womb. ¹⁴ I will praise you; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are your works; and that my soul knows right well. ¹⁵ My frame was not hid from you, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. ¹⁶ Your eyes did see my substance, being yet unformed; and in your book they were all written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.

²⁷ Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it.

¹⁸ The wicked works a deceitful work: but to him that sows righteousness shall be a sure reward.

²⁴ There is one that scatters, and yet increases; and there is one that withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty. ²⁵ The liberal soul shall be made rich: and he that waters shall be watered also himself.

³⁰ The light of the eyes rejoices the heart: and a good report makes the bones healthy.

¹⁷ He that has pity upon the poor lends unto the LORD; and that which he has given will he pay him again.

⁴ The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

¹³ The slothful man says, There is a lion outside, I shall be slain in the streets.

¹⁵ Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

¹ I said in my heart, Come now, I will test you with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity. ² I said of laughter, It is mad: and of mirth, What use is it? ³ I sought in my heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting my heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was good for the sons of men, which they should do under heaven all the days of their life. ⁴ I made myself great works; I built houses; I planted vineyards: ⁵ I made myself gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them with all kind of fruit: ⁶ I made myself pools of water, with which to water the forest that brings forth trees: ⁷ I got myself male and female servants, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle more than all that were in Jerusalem before me: ⁸ I gathered for myself also silver and gold, and the special treasures of kings and of the provinces: I got men singers and women singers, the delights of the sons of men, and musical instruments of all sorts. ⁹ So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me. ¹⁰ And whatsoever my eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labor: and this was my reward of all my labor.

²¹ For there is a man whose labor is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that has not labored in it shall he leave it for his portion. This also is vanity and a great evil. ²² For what has man for all his labor, and for the striving of his heart, with which he has labored under the sun? ²³ For all his days are sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart takes not rest in the night. This is also vanity.

²⁶ For God gives to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he gives the work of gathering and heaping up, only that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and grasping of the wind.

¹² I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. ¹³ And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labor, it is the gift of God.

¹⁷ I said in my heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time for every purpose and for every work.

⁸ There is one alone, and there is not a second; yea, he has neither child nor brother: yet is there no end of all his labor; neither is his eye satisfied with riches; neither says he, For whom do I labor, and deprive my soul of good? This is also vanity, yea, it is a heavy travail.

¹⁶ There is no end of all the people, even of all that have been before them: they also that come after him shall not rejoice in him. Surely this also is vanity and grasping after the wind.

¹⁵ As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing from his labor, which he may carry away in his hand. ¹⁶ And this also is a great evil, that just as he came, so shall he go: and what profit has he who has labored for the wind?

¹⁸ Behold that which I have seen: it is good and fitting for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labor that he takes under the sun all the days of his life, which God gives him: for this is his lot. ¹⁹ Every man also to whom God has given riches and wealth, and has given him power to eat of it, and to accept his lot, and to rejoice in his labor; this is the gift of God. ²⁰ For he shall not much remember the days of his life; because God keeps him busy with the joy of his heart.

⁵ Moreover he has not seen the sun, nor known any thing: this one has more rest than the other. ⁶ Yea, though he lives a thousand years twice over, yet he has seen no good: do not all go to one place?

¹¹ Since there are many things that increase vanity, how is man the better?

¹¹ Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun.

¹⁴ In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: God also has set the one over against the other, to the end that man should find nothing that will come after him.

¹² Though a sinner does evil a hundred times, and his days are prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, who fear before him:

¹⁵ Then I commended mirth, because a man has no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him in his labor all the days of his life, which God gives him under the sun.

¹⁷ Then I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man labors to seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea moreover; though a wise man thinks to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it.

¹ For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knows either love or hatred by all that is before them.

²⁰ Blessed are you that sow beside all waters, that send forth freely the feet of the ox and the donkey.

⁶ You have sown much, and bring in little; you eat, but you have not enough; you drink, but you are not filled with drink; you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and he that earns wages earns wages to put it into a bag with holes. ⁷ Thus says the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways. ⁸ Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, says the LORD. ⁹ You looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when you brought it home, I did blow it away. Why? says the LORD of hosts. Because of my house that is in ruins, and you run every man unto his own house. ¹⁰ Therefore the heavens over you withholds the dew, and the earth withholds her fruit. ¹¹ And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the grain, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground brings forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labor of the hands.

¹⁷ I struck you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labors of your hands; yet you turned not to me, says the LORD. ¹⁸ Consider now from this day and onward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD'S temple was laid, consider it. ¹⁹ Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, have not brought forth: but from this day will I bless you.

¹¹ But now I will not be unto the remnant of this people as in the former days, says the LORD of hosts. ¹² For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give its fruit, and the ground shall give its increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.

¹⁰ And now also the ax is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which brings not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

²⁸ But I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

⁴² Give to him that asks you, and from him that would borrow of you turn not away.

⁴⁵ That you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven: for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

¹³ And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

⁴² And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

²² Jesus said unto him, I say not unto you, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

¹³ Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

⁴⁰ And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Since you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.

²⁶ And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; ²⁷ And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knows not how. ²⁸ For the earth brings forth fruit of itself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full grain in the ear. ²⁹ But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest is come.

³⁰ Give to every man that asks of you; and of him that takes away your goods ask them not again. ³¹ And as you would that men should do to you, do you also to them likewise. ³² For if you love them who love you, what thanks have you? for sinners also love those that love them. ³³ And if you do good to them who do good to you, what thanks have you? for sinners also do even the same. ³⁴ And if you lend to them of whom you hope to receive, what thanks have you? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. ³⁵ But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward shall be great, and you shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

⁷ Then said he unto the vinedresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbers it the ground?

¹⁴ And you shall be blessed; for they cannot recompense you: for you shall be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

¹² And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me. And he divided unto them his living. ¹³ And not many days later the younger son gathered everything together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

²² And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; ²³ And in hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and seeing Abraham far off, and Lazarus in his bosom. ²⁴ And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. ²⁵ But Abraham said, Son, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and you are tormented. ²⁶ And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they who would pass from here to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from there.

⁴ And if he trespasses against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turns again to you, saying, I repent; you shall forgive him.

⁸ The wind blows where it wills, and you hear the sound thereof, but can not tell from where it came, and where it goes: so is everyone that is born of the Spirit.

³⁶ And he that reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit unto life eternal: that both he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together. ³⁷ And in this is that saying true, One sows, and another reaps. ³⁸ I sent you to reap that on which you bestowed no labor: other men labored, and you are entered into their labors.

³⁵ Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walks in darkness knows not where he goes.

²⁰ And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they were come to Antioch, spoke unto the Greeks, preaching the Lord Jesus. ²¹ And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.

²⁸ And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great famine throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar. ²⁹ Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren who dwelt in Judea: ³⁰ Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

¹⁶ Who in times past allowed all nations to walk in their own ways.

³⁰ And the times of this ignorance God overlooked; but now commands all men everywhere to repent: ³¹ Because he has appointed a day, in which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he has ordained; and of this he has given assurance unto all men, in that he has raised him from the dead.

²⁵ And as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go your way for this time; when I have a convenient time, I will call for you.

⁵ But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart treasure up unto yourself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; ⁶ Who will render to every man according to his deeds: ⁷ To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life: ⁸ But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, ⁹ Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that does evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek; ¹⁰ But glory, honor, and peace, to every man that works good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek: ¹¹ For there is no respect of persons with God.

³³ O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

¹⁰ But why do you judge your brother? or why do you despise your brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

⁵ Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom you believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? ⁶ I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. ⁷ So then neither is he that plants anything, neither he that waters; but God that gives the increase.

⁵ Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

¹⁰ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that everyone may be recompensed for the things done in his body, according to what he has done, whether it be good or bad.

¹ Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

⁶ But this I say, He who sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he who sows bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

¹⁰ Now he that ministers seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) ¹¹ Being enriched in everything to all bountifulness, who causes through us thanksgiving to God.

¹ Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering yourself, lest you also be tempted.

⁸ For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. ⁹ And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. ¹⁰ As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

² In which in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience: ³ Among whom also we all had our behavior in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

¹⁶ Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

¹⁸ That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to share; ¹⁹ Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

²² Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, love, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

² Preach the word; be diligent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

¹⁰ For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which you have showed toward his name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

²⁷ And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

³ Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them who suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

³ For the time past of our life will suffice us to have done the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in licentiousness, lusts, excess of wine, reveling, carousing, and abominable idolatries: ⁴ In which they think it strange that you run not with them to the same excess of dissipation, speaking evil of you:

⁷ But the heavens and the earth, which now are, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

¹¹ Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in all holy conduct and godliness, ¹² Looking for and hastening unto the coming of the day of God, in which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? ¹³ Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, in which dwells righteousness. ¹⁴ Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for such things, be diligent that you may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

¹⁵ Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

¹⁷ But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his heart of compassion from him, how dwells the love of God in him?

¹⁸ How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

¹² And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. ¹³ And the sea gave up the dead who were in it; and death and hades delivered up the dead who were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. ¹⁴ And death and hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. ¹⁵ And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
