²¹ And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall mourn over many who have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and licentiousness which they have committed.

³¹ And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.

¹⁵ So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.

¹ Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

¹⁷ But if you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret for your pride; and my eye shall weep bitterly, and run down with tears, because the LORD’S flock is carried away captive.

⁴¹ And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and bear with you? Bring your son here. ⁴² And as he was yet coming, the demon threw him down, and tore him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.

² That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.

¹³ Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in reveling and drunkenness, not in debauchery and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

¹ It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife.

⁹ I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: ¹⁰ Yet not entirely with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must you needs go out of the world. ¹¹ But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one no not to eat.

⁹ Know you not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, ¹⁰ Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. ¹¹ And such were some of you: but you are washed, but you are sanctified, but you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

¹⁵ Know you not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of a harlot? God forbid. ¹⁶ What? know you not that he who is joined to a harlot is one body? for two, says he, shall be one flesh. ¹⁷ But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. ¹⁸ Flee fornication. Every sin that a man does is outside the body; but he that commits fornication sins against his own body.

¹ But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness. ² For if I make you sorry, who is he then that makes me glad, but the same who is made sorry by me? ³ And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all. ⁴ For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that you should be grieved, but that you might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you. ⁵ But if any has caused grief, he has not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overburden you all. ⁶ Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many. ⁷ So that instead you ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with too much sorrow. ⁸ Therefore I beseech you that you would confirm your love toward him. ⁹ For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether you be obedient in all things. ¹⁰ To whom you forgive anything, I forgive also: for if I forgave anything, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes I forgave it in the person of Christ; ¹¹ Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

⁹ Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that you sorrowed to repentance: for you were made sorry after a godly manner, that you might suffer loss by us in nothing. ¹⁰ For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation not to be regretted: but the sorrow of the world works death. ¹¹ For behold this same thing, that you sorrowed after a godly sort, what earnestness it worked in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what full punishment! In all things you have proved yourselves to be pure in this matter.

²⁴ Therefore show to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love, and of our boasting on your behalf.

³ Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, you may be ready: ⁴ Lest perhaps if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, you) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting.

⁶ And having a readiness to punish all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

⁷ And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

² I told you before, and tell you again, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them who earlier have sinned, and to all others, that, if I come again, I will not spare:

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, impurity, licentiousness,

⁵ For this you know, that no fornicator, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. ⁶ Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things comes the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

¹⁸ (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: ¹⁹ Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

⁵ Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

³ For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that you should abstain from fornication: ⁴ That every one of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor; ⁵ Not in the lust of passion, even as the Gentiles who know not God: ⁶ That no man transgress and wrong his brother in any matter: because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. ⁷ For God has not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

⁴ Let marriage be held in honor by all, and the bed undefiled: but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

² That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. ³ For the time past of our life will suffice us to have done the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in licentiousness, lusts, excess of wine, reveling, carousing, and abominable idolatries:

¹⁰ But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise authority. Presumptuous are they, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of the glorious ones. ¹¹ Whereas angels, who are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord. ¹² But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption; ¹³ And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to revel in the daytime. Spots they are and blemishes, reveling themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; ¹⁴ Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: a heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

¹⁸ For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that have just escaped from them who live in error.

⁷ Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after unnatural lust, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

²³ And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

⁸ But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

¹⁵ For outside are dogs, and sorcerers, and fornicators, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loves and makes a lie.

²⁰ He who testifies these things says, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
