³ And when I come, whomsoever you shall approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your liberality unto Jerusalem.

¹ And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Hellenists against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution. ² Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reasonable that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. ³ Therefore, brethren, pick out from among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. ⁴ But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. ⁵ And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus a proselyte of Antioch: ⁶ Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

¹⁹ But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord wills, and will know, not the speech of them who are puffed up, but the power. ²⁰ For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. ²¹ What do you wish? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?

³⁴ And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that you come not together unto judgment. And the rest will I set in order when I come.

⁴ Begging us with much entreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.

⁶ So that we urged Titus, that as he had begun, so he would also finish in you the same grace also.

¹⁸ And we have sent with him the brother, whose praise is in the gospel throughout all the churches; ¹⁹ And not that only, but who was also chosen of the churches to travel with us with this grace, which is administered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and a testimony of your eagerness: ²⁰ Avoiding this, that no man should blame us in this abundance which is administered by us: ²¹ Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men. ²² And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which I have in you. ²³ If any do inquire of Titus, he is my partner and fellow worker concerning you: or if our brethren be inquired of, they are the messengers of the churches, and the glory of Christ. ²⁴ Therefore show to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love, and of our boasting on your behalf.
