²⁰ Brethren, be not children in understanding: but in malice be children, but in understanding be men.

¹ [A song of ascents. Of David.] LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me. ² Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.

³ And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

²⁵ At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hid these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them unto babes.

³ And said, Verily I say unto you, Except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

⁴ And he answered and said unto them, Have you not read, that he who made them at the beginning made them male and female,

¹⁵ Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

¹⁹ For your obedience is well known unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and innocent concerning evil.

⁶ But we speak wisdom among them that are mature: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nothing:

¹ And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. ² I have fed you with milk, and not with solid food: for until now you were not able to bear it, neither yet now are you able.

¹¹ When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

¹⁴ That we from now on be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, by which they lie in wait to deceive; ¹⁵ But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, who is the head, even Christ:

⁹ And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

¹⁵ Let us therefore, as many as would be perfect, be thus minded: and if in anything you be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

¹² For when for the time you ought to be teachers, you have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of solid food. ¹³ For every one that uses milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

¹ Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto maturity; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, ² Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. ³ And this will we do, if God permits.

² As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby:

¹⁸ But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen.
