²⁸ But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

¹⁰ Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any man of you or of your descendants shall be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be in a journey afar off, yet he shall keep the passover unto the LORD. ¹¹ The fourteenth day of the second month at evening they shall keep it, and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. ¹² They shall leave none of it until the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the passover they shall keep it. ¹³ But the man that is clean, and is not on a journey, and ceases to keep the passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in its appointed time, that man shall bear his sin.

² Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my heart and my mind. ³ For your lovingkindness is before my eyes: and I have walked in your truth. ⁴ I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with hypocrites. ⁵ I have hated the congregation of evildoers; and will not sit with the wicked. ⁶ I will wash my hands in innocence: so will I go about your altar, O LORD: ⁷ That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all your wondrous works.

⁵ Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did you at all fast unto me, even to me? ⁶ And when you did eat, and when you did drink, did not you eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves? ⁷ Should you not hear the words which the LORD has cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and her cities round about her, when men inhabited the south and the lowland?

²³ Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you; ²⁴ Leave there your gift before the altar, and go your way; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

³¹ For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

⁵ Examine yourselves, whether you are in the faith; prove your own selves. Know you not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, unless you are counterfeits?

⁴ But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.

²⁰ For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. ²¹ Beloved, if our heart condemns us not, then have we confidence toward God.
