²³ Justifying the unjust on account of a gift, and they will take away the justice of the just from him.

⁶ Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of thy needy in his cause. ⁷ From the word of falsehood thou shalt go far away; and the innocent and the just one thou shalt not kill: for I will not justify the unjust one. ⁸ And thou shalt not take a gift; for the gift will blind the seeing, and will pervert just words. ⁹ Thou shalt not press the stranger: and ye knew the soul of the stranger, for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt

¹⁹ Thou shalt not turn away Judgment; thou shalt not look upon and thou shalt not take a gift, for the gift will blind the eyes of the wise and will pervert the words of the just.

²³ The unjust one will take a gift from the bosom to turn, aside the paths of judgment

⁴ Not for kings, O Lemuel, not for kings to drink and for princes the desire of strong drink: ⁵ Lest he shall drink and forget what is prescribed, and change the judgment of all the sons of affliction.

²³ Thy chiefs turning away, and associates of thieves: every one loving a gift and following recompenses: the orphan they will not judge, and the cause of the widow will not come to them.
