⁴ Presiding well over his own house, having the children in subjection with all gravity;

¹⁹ For I know him, for that he will command his sons and his house after him; and they watched the way of Jehovah to do justice and judgment, for Jehovah to bring upon Abraham what he spake to him.

¹⁵ And if evil in your eyes to serve Jehovah, choose for yourselves this day whom ye will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served which are beyond the river, and whether the gods of the Amorite which ye dwelt in their land: and I and my house, we will serve Jehovah.

² I will be prudent in a blameless way. When wilt thou come to me? I will go about in integrity of heart in the midst of my house. ³ I will not set a word of Belial before mine eyes: I hated him doing transgressions; he shall not cleave to me. ⁴ A heart of oppression shall depart from me: I shall not know evil. ⁵ Slandering his neighbor in secret, him will I cut off: him being lofty of eyes and broad of heart, with him I will not eat ⁶ Mine eyes are upon the faithful of the earth, to dwell with me: he walking in a blameless way, he shall serve me. ⁷ He doing deceit shall not dwell in the midst of my house: he speaking falsehoods shall not be prepared before mine eyes. ⁸ For the mornings I will destroy all the unjust of the land; to cut off from the city of Jehovah all doing iniquity.

² Religious, and fearing God with all his house, and doing many alms to the people, and praying God always.

⁸ As to the rest, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever venerable, whatever just, whatever pure, whatever lovely, whatever prosperous; if any ability, and if any praise, reckon up these things.

¹² Let the deacons be husbands of one wife, presiding well over the children and their own houses.

⁶ If any be irreproachable, the husband of one wife, having faithful children, not in accusation of licentiousness, or disorderly.

² The aged men to be sober, grave, of sound mind, sound in the faith, in love, in patience.

⁷ Concerning all things hold thyself a type of good works: in doctrine, integrity, gravity, incorruptibility,
