² Then Pashhur smote Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the upper gate of Benjamin, which was in the house of the LORD.

³³ But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the LORD, I will put My law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people;

⁴ and the children are brazen-faced and stiff-hearted, I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them: Thus saith the Lord GOD.

⁶ And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though defiers and despisers be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions; be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house.

⁷ But the house of Israel will not consent to hearken unto thee; for they consent not to hearken unto Me; for all the house of Israel are of a hard forehead and of a stiff heart. ⁸ Behold, I have made thy face hard against their faces, and thy forehead hard against their foreheads. ⁹ As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead; fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house.'

²⁴ that thou hast built unto thee an eminent place, and hast made thee a lofty place in every street. ²⁵ Thou hast built thy lofty place at every head of the way, and hast made thy beauty an abomination, and hast opened thy feet to every one that passed by, and multiplied thy harlotries.

³¹ in that thou buildest thine eminent place in the head of every way, and makest thy lofty place in every street; and hast not been as a harlot that enhanceth her hire.

³³ to all harlots gifts are given; but thou hast given thy gifts to all thy lovers, and hast bribed them to come unto thee from every side in thy harlotries.

⁷ Of fine linen with richly woven work from Egypt was thy sail, that it might be to thee for an ensign; blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was thine awning.

⁸ (2:12) For thus saith the LORD of hosts who sent me after glory unto the nations which spoiled you: 'Surely, he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.

²⁸ but I say unto you, that every one that looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

⁴⁹ And he stretched forth his hand towards his disciples, and said, Behold, my mother and my brethren! ⁵⁰ For whosoever shall do the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.

¹⁶ And Jesus said, Are ye also even yet without understanding?

¹¹ And when they received it, they murmured against the householder,

⁴³ But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken through.

⁴⁸ But if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth to come,

³⁴ It is as when a man, sojourning in another country, having left his house, and given authority to his servants, and to each one his work, commanded also the porter to watch. ³⁵ Watch therefore; for ye know not when the lord of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at cockcrowing, or in the morning, ³⁶ lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.

¹⁵ And that in the good ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it fast, and bring forth fruit with patience.

²⁷ And it came to pass, as he said these things, a certain woman out of the multitude lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the breasts which thou didst suck. ²⁸ But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

²³ And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and constrain them to come in, that my house may be filled.

²⁹ And they constrained him, saying, Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to abide with them.

⁴⁹ For I spake not from myself, but the Father that sent me, he hath given me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. ⁵⁰ And I know that his commandment is life eternal; the things therefore which I speak, even as the Father hath said unto me, so I speak.

²¹ He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me; and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself unto him.

²³ Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my word; and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

¹⁴ Ye are my friends, if ye do the things which I command you.

²⁰ Remember the word that I said unto you, A servant is not greater than his lord. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you, if they kept my word, they will keep yours also.

²⁸ They lead Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the Praetorium; and it was early, and they themselves entered not into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the passover.

¹³ And the priest of Jupiter whose temple was before the city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the multitudes.

¹⁵ And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.

²⁴ who, having received such a charge, cast them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.

¹² The night is far spent, and the day is at hand; let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. ¹³ Let us walk becomingly, as in the day, not in revelling and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and jealousy. ¹⁴ But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

¹⁸ For they that are such serve not our Lord Christ, but their own belly, and by their smooth and fair speech they beguile the hearts of the innocent. ¹⁹ For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I rejoice therefore over you; but I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple unto that which is evil.

¹⁴ I write not these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children. ¹⁵ For though ye have ten thousand tutors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I begat you through the gospel.

¹⁸ Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body, but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

⁸ Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

³ being made manifest that ye are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God, not in tables of stone, but in tables that are hearts of flesh.

¹⁴ For the love of Christ constraineth us, because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then all died,

² For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy; for I espoused you to one husband, that I might present you as a pure virgin to Christ. ³ But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve in his craftiness, your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is toward Christ.

²¹ lest again when I come my God should humble me before you, and I should mourn for many of them that have sinned heretofore, and repented not of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they committed.

¹⁹ My little children, of whom I am again in travail until Christ be formed in you—

¹¹ and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them,

⁹ In like manner, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefastness and sobriety, not with braided hair, and gold or pearls or costly raiment,

¹³ And withal they learn also to be idle, going about from house to house, and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not. ¹⁴ I desire therefore that the younger widows marry, bear children, rule the household, give no occasion to the adversary for reviling:

²² But flee youthful lusts, and follow after righteousness, faith, love, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

⁵ to be sober-minded, chaste, workers at home, kind, being in subjection to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed:

¹¹ Beloved, I beseech you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul,

¹ My little children, these things write I unto you that ye may not sin. And if any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

³ And hereby we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. ⁴ He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him,

¹ Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is begotten of God; and whosoever loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. ² Hereby we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments. ³ For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments; and his commandments are not grievous.

²³ and some save with fear, snatching them out of a fire, hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

³ Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of the prophecy, and keep the things that are written therein; for the time is at hand.

²⁰ But I have against thee that thou lettest thy woman Jezebel, she that calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed to idols.

²² Behold, I cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of her works.

³ And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness; and I saw a woman sitting upon a scarlet-colored beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. ⁴ And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, decked with gold and precious stone and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations, even the unclean things of her fornication, ⁵ and upon her forehead a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF THE HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

³ For by the wine of the wrath of her fornication all the nations are fallen, and the kings of the earth committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth waxed rich by the power of her wantonness.

²³ and the light of a lamp shall shine no more at all in thee, and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee; for thy merchants were the princes of the earth, for with thy sorcery were all the nations deceived.

⁹ And he saith unto me, See thou do it not; I am a fellow-servant with thee and with thy brethren the prophets, and with them that keep the words of this book; worship God.

¹⁴ Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have the right to come to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city. ¹⁵ Without are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one that loveth and maketh a lie.
