¹³ The poor man and the oppressor meet together; the LORD giveth light to the eyes of them both.

²⁵ (22:24) If thou lend money to any of My people, even to the poor with thee, thou shalt not be to him as a creditor; neither shall ye lay upon him interest. ²⁶ (22:25) If thou at all take thy neighbour's garment to pledge, thou shalt restore it unto him by that the sun goeth down;

³⁵ And if thy brother be waxen poor, and his means fail with thee; then thou shalt uphold him: as a stranger and a settler shall he live with thee. ³⁶ Take thou no interest of him or increase; but fear thy God; that thy brother may live with thee. ³⁷ Thou shalt not give him thy money upon interest, nor give him thy victuals for increase.

⁵ Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children; and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought into bondage already; neither is it in our power to help it; for other men have our fields and our vineyards.' ⁶ And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words. ⁷ Then I consulted with myself, and contended with the nobles and the rulers, and said unto them: 'Ye lend upon pledge, every one to his brother.' And I held a great assembly against them.

³ (13:4) Behold Thou, and answer me, O LORD my God; lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
