¹² And God said unto Balaam: 'Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people; for they are blessed.'

² And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and be thou a blessing.

¹⁶ and said: 'By Myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son, ¹⁷ that in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; ¹⁸ and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast hearkened to My voice.' ¹⁹ Now therefore, I pray you, tarry ye also here this night, that I may know what the LORD will speak unto me more.' ²⁰ And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him: 'If the men are come to call thee, rise up, go with them; but only the word which I speak unto thee, that shalt thou do.'

³ And Balaam said unto Balak: 'Stand by thy burnt-offering, and I will go; peradventure the LORD will come to meet me; and whatsoever He showeth me I will tell thee.' And he went to a bare height.

¹³ And Balak said unto him: 'Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see them; thou shalt see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not see them all; and curse me them from thence.' ¹⁴ And he took him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered up a bullock and a ram on every altar. ¹⁵ And he said unto Balak: 'Stand here by thy burnt-offering, while I go toward a meeting yonder.'

¹⁹ God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: when He hath said, will He not do it? or when He hath spoken, will He not make it good? ²⁰ Behold, I am bidden to bless; and when He hath blessed, I cannot call it back.

²³ For there is no enchantment with Jacob, neither is there any divination with Israel; now is it said of Jacob and of Israel: 'What hath God wrought!'

⁵ (23:6) Nevertheless the LORD thy God would not hearken unto Balaam; but the LORD thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because the LORD thy God loved thee.

²⁹ Happy art thou, O Israel, who is like unto thee? a people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and that is the sword of thy excellency! And thine enemies shall dwindle away before thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.

¹⁵ In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; ¹⁶ Then He openeth the ears of men, and by their chastisement sealeth the decree, ¹⁷ That men may put away their purpose, and that He may hide pride from man;

¹⁵ Happy is the people that is in such a case. Yea, happy is the people whose God is the LORD.

⁵ Happy is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God,

⁵ O My people, remember now what Balak king of Moab devised, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him; from Shittim unto Gilgal, that ye may know the righteous acts of the LORD.

¹⁹ And while he was sitting on the judgment-seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.

⁶ Even as David also pronounceth blessing upon the man, unto whom God reckoneth righteousness apart from works, ⁷ saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, And whose sins are covered.

²⁹ For the gifts and the calling of God are not repented of.
