¹² All things therefore whatsoever ye would that men should do unto you, even so do ye also unto them; for this is the law and the prophets.

¹⁸ Thou shalt not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

¹⁷ Learn to do well; seek justice, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. ¹⁸ Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD; though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

⁵ Nay, but if ye thoroughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye thoroughly execute justice between a man and his neighbour; ⁶ if ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt;

⁷ and hath not wronged any, but hath restored his pledge for a debt, hath taken nought by robbery, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment; ⁸ he that hath not given forth upon interest, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true justice between man and man,

²¹ But if the wicked turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all My statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

¹⁴ Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live; and so the LORD, the God of hosts, will be with you, as ye say. ¹⁵ Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish justice in the gate; it may be that the LORD, the God of hosts, will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.

⁸ It hath been told thee, O man, what is good, and what the LORD doth require of thee: only to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God.

⁷ Should ye not hearken to the words which the LORD hath proclaimed by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, and the South and the Lowland were inhabited?' ⁸ And the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah, saying: ⁹ 'Thus hath the LORD of hosts spoken, saying: Execute true judgment, and show mercy and compassion every man to his brother; ¹⁰ and oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.

¹⁶ These are the things that ye shall do: Speak ye every man the truth with his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates; ¹⁷ and let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath; for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.'

⁵ And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers; and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not Me, saith the LORD of hosts.

³⁹ And a second like unto it is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. ⁴⁰ On these two commandments the whole law hangeth, and the prophets.

²⁹ And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel, The Lord our God, the Lord is one; ³⁰ and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength; this is the first commandment. ³¹ And the second is like it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. ³² And the scribe said unto him, Of a truth, Teacher, thou hast well said that he is one, and there is none other but he: ³³ and to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as himself, is much more than all whole burnt-offerings and sacrifices. ³⁴ And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.

³¹ And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

⁸ Owe no man anything, save to love one another; for he that loveth his neighbor hath fulfilled the law. ⁹ For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not covet, and if there be any other commandment, it is summed up in this word, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. ¹⁰ Love worketh no ill to his neighbor; love therefore is the fulfilment of the law.

¹³ For ye, brethren, were called for freedom, only use not your freedom for an occasion to the flesh, but through love be servants one to another. ¹⁴ For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

⁵ But the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and faith unfeigned:

¹⁰ For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is become guilty of all. ¹¹ For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet thou killest, thou art become a transgressor of the law. ¹² So speak ye, and so do, as men that are to be judged by a law of liberty. ¹³ For judgment is without mercy to him that hath showed no mercy; mercy glorieth against judgment.
