⁵ And I sent Moses and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to that which I did in the midst thereof; and afterward I brought you out.

¹⁰ Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth My people the children of Israel out of Egypt.'

¹² Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt speak.' ¹³ And he said: 'Oh Lord, send, I pray Thee, by the hand of him whom Thou wilt send.' ¹⁴ And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and He said: 'Is there not Aaron thy brother the Levite? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee; and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.

¹ And the LORD said unto Moses: 'See, I have set thee in God's stead to Pharaoh; and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. ² Thou shalt speak all that I command thee; and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land. ³ And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt. ⁴ But Pharaoh will not hearken unto you, and I will lay My hand upon Egypt, and bring forth My hosts, My people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt, by great judgments. ⁵ And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch forth My hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.' ⁶ And Moses and Aaron did so; as the LORD commanded them, so did they. ⁷ And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spoke unto Pharaoh. ⁸ And the LORD spoke unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying: ⁹ 'When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying: Show a wonder for you; then thou shalt say unto Aaron: Take thy rod, and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it become a serpent.' ¹⁰ And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so, as the LORD had commanded; and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent. ¹¹ Then Pharaoh also called for the wise men and the sorcerers; and they also, the magicians of Egypt, did in like manner with their secret arts. ¹² For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents; but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.

³⁷ And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, beside children.

⁵¹ And it came to pass the selfsame day that the LORD did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their hosts.

⁴³ How He set His signs in Egypt, and His wonders in the field of Zoan; ⁴⁴ And turned their rivers into blood, so that they could not drink their streams. ⁴⁵ He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them. ⁴⁶ He gave also their increase unto the caterpillar, and their labour unto the locust. ⁴⁷ He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycamore-trees with frost. ⁴⁸ He gave over their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to fiery bolts. ⁴⁹ He sent forth upon them the fierceness of His anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, a sending of messengers of evil. ⁵⁰ He levelled a path for His anger; He spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence; ⁵¹ And smote all the first-born in Egypt, the first-fruits of their strength in the tents of Ham;

²⁶ He sent Moses His servant, and Aaron whom He had chosen. ²⁷ They wrought among them His manifold signs, and wonders in the land of Ham. ²⁸ He sent darkness, and it was dark; and they rebelled not against His word. ²⁹ He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish. ³⁰ Their land swarmed with frogs, in the chambers of their kings. ³¹ He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats in all their borders. ³² He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land. ³³ He smote their vines also and their fig-trees; and broke the trees of their borders. ³⁴ He spoke, and the locust came, and the canker-worm without number, ³⁵ And did eat up every herb in their land, and did eat up the fruit of their ground. ³⁶ He smote also all the first-born in their land, the first-fruits of all their strength.

⁸ Who smote the first-born of Egypt, both of man and beast. ⁹ He sent signs and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants.

¹⁰ To Him that smote Egypt in their first-born, for His mercy endureth for ever;
