²⁴ Men do therefore fear Him; He regardeth not any that are wise of heart.

¹³ He taketh the wise in their own craftiness; and the counsel of the wily is carried headlong.

⁴ For with Thee there is forgiveness, that Thou mayest be feared.

⁴ Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

²⁰ Well, by their unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by thy faith. Be not highminded, but fear: ²¹ for if God spared not the natural branches, neither will he spare thee. ²² Behold then the goodness and severity of God; toward them that fell, severity, but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness; otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

²⁶ For behold your calling, brethren, that not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
