²⁴ Then the LORD caused to rain upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;

¹⁶ While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said: 'A fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.'

⁷ Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? Or where were the upright cut off?

³ Doth God pervert judgment? Or doth the Almighty pervert justice? ⁴ If thy children sinned against Him, He delivered them into the hand of their transgression.

⁵ For thine iniquity teacheth thy mouth, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty. ⁶ Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I; yea, thine own lips testify against thee.

³⁰ He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of His mouth shall he go away.

¹⁸ That which he laboured for shall he give back, and shall not swallow it down; according to the substance that he hath gotten, he shall not rejoice. ¹⁹ For he hath oppressed and forsaken the poor; he hath violently taken away a house, and he shall not build it up.

²⁶ All darkness is laid up for his treasures; a fire not blown by man shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tent.

²⁷ Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices which ye wrongfully imagine against me. ²⁸ For ye say: 'Where is the house of the prince? And where is the tent wherein the wicked dwelt?'

²⁹ but in the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all; ³⁰ after the same manner shall it be in the day that the Son of man is revealed.

⁶ and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, having made them an example unto those that should live impiously, ⁷ and delivered righteous Lot, sore distressed by the lascivious life of the wicked
