¹⁶ Who were snatched away before their time, whose foundation was poured out as a stream;

¹¹ In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

¹⁷ And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bore up the ark, and it was lifted up above the earth. ¹⁸ And the waters prevailed, and increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters. ¹⁹ And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high mountains that were under the whole heaven were covered. ²⁰ Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered. ²¹ And all flesh perished that moved upon the earth, both fowl, and cattle, and beast, and every swarming thing that swarmeth upon the earth, and every man; ²² all in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, whatsoever was in the dry land, died. ²³ And He blotted out every living substance which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and creeping thing, and fowl of the heaven; and they were blotted out from the earth; and Noah only was left, and they that were with him in the ark. ²⁴ And the waters prevailed upon the earth a hundred and fifty days.

¹⁹ The waters wear the stones; the overflowings thereof wash away the dust of the earth; so Thou destroyest the hope of man.

³² It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be leafy.

²³ (55:24) But Thou, O God, wilt bring them down into the nethermost pit; men of blood and deceit shall not live out half their days; but as for me, I will trust in Thee.

²⁴ (102:25) I say: 'O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days, Thou whose years endure throughout all generations.

¹⁷ Be not overmuch wicked, neither be thou foolish; why shouldest thou die before thy time?

²⁶ And every one that heareth these words of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand; ²⁷ and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and smote upon that house, and it fell; and great was the fall thereof.

³⁷ And as were the days of Noah, so also shall be the coming of the Son of man. ³⁸ For as in the days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, ³⁹ and they knew not until the flood came, and took them all away, so also shall be the coming of the Son of man.

¹⁹ in which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison, ²⁰ that aforetime were disobedient, when the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water:

⁵ and spared not the ancient world, but preserved Noah with seven others, a preacher of righteousness, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly,
