¹⁰ and come and stand before Me in this house, whereupon My name is called, and say: 'We are delivered', that ye may do all these abominations?

¹⁰ Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah. ¹¹ To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto Me? saith the LORD; I am full of the burnt-offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he-goats. ¹² When ye come to appear before Me, who hath required this at your hand, to trample My courts? ¹³ Bring no more vain oblations; it is an offering of abomination unto Me; new moon and sabbath, the holding of convocations - I cannot endure iniquity along with the solemn assembly. ¹⁴ Your new moons and your appointed seasons My soul hateth; they are a burden unto Me; I am weary to bear them. ¹⁵ And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide Mine eyes from you; yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear; your hands are full of blood.

² For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel, the LORD of hosts is His name.

² Yet they seek Me daily, and delight to know My ways; as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God, they ask of Me righteous ordinances, they delight to draw near unto God. ³ 'Wherefore have we fasted, and Thou seest not? Wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and Thou takest no knowledge?' - Behold, in the day of your fast ye pursue your business, and exact all your labours. ⁴ Behold, ye fast for strife and contention, and to smite with the fist of wickedness; ye fast not this day so as to make your voice to be heard on high.

¹¹ Is this house, whereupon My name is called, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it, saith the LORD.

³⁷ For they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed adultery; and their sons, whom they bore unto Me, they have also set apart unto them to be devoured.

³⁹ For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into My sanctuary to profane it; and, lo, thus have they done in the midst of My house.

³¹ and come unto thee as the people cometh, and sit before thee as My people, and hear thy words, but do them not - for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness;

¹³ But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, even while for a pretence ye make long prayers; therefore ye shall receive greater condemnation.

¹⁸ I speak not of you all; I know whom I have chosen; but that the scripture may be fulfilled; He that eateth bread with me lifted up his heel against me.

²⁶ Jesus answereth, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he giveth it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. ²⁷ And after the sop, then entered Satan into him. Jesus therefore saith unto him, What thou doest, do quickly.

²⁸ They lead Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the Praetorium; and it was early, and they themselves entered not into the Praetorium, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the passover.
