¹⁰ And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in darkness, and thy gloom be as the noon-day;

⁷ If there be among you a needy man, one of thy brethren, within any of thy gates, in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thy heart, nor shut thy hand from thy needy brother; ⁸ but thou shalt surely open thy hand unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need in that which he wanteth. ⁹ Beware that there be not a base thought in thy heart, saying: 'The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand'; and thine eye be evil against thy needy brother, and thou give him nought; and he cry unto the LORD against thee, and it be sin in thee. ¹⁰ Thou shalt surely give him, and thy heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him; because that for this thing the LORD thy God will bless thee in all thy work, and in all that thou puttest thy hand unto.

¹⁷ And thy life shall be clearer than the noonday; though there be darkness, it shall be as the morning.

⁶ And He will make thy righteousness to go forth as the light, and thy right as the noonday.

¹ (41:1) For the Leader. A Psalm of David. (41:2) Happy is he that considereth the poor; the LORD will deliver him in the day of evil.

⁵ Well is it with the man that dealeth graciously and lendeth, that ordereth his affairs rightfully. ⁶ For he shall never be moved; the righteous shall be had in everlasting remembrance. ⁷ He shall not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is stedfast, trusting in the LORD. ⁸ His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he gaze upon his adversaries. ⁹ He hath scattered abroad, he hath given to the needy; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted in honour.

²⁴ There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth only to want. ²⁵ The beneficent soul shall be made rich, and he that satisfieth abundantly shall be satisfied also himself.

³¹ He that oppresseth the poor blasphemeth his Maker; but he that is gracious unto the needy honoureth Him.

²⁷ He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack; but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

¹⁸ And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of a book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.

¹⁶ And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not, in paths that they knew not will I lead them; I will make darkness light before them, and rugged places plain. These things will I do, and I will not leave them undone.

⁷ Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him, and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? ⁸ Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thy healing shall spring forth speedily; and thy righteousness shall go before thee, the glory of the LORD shall be thy rearward.

²² And when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, One thing thou lackest yet; sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.
