² Will they cry unto Me: 'My God, we Israel know Thee'?

¹⁶ And he said: 'Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD.' So they made him ride in his chariot.

²⁹ Howbeit from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin, Jehu departed not from after them, the golden calves that were in Beth-el, and that were in Dan.

³⁴ When He slew them, then they would inquire after Him, and turn back and seek God earnestly. ³⁵ And they remembered that God was their Rock, and the Most High God their redeemer. ³⁶ But they beguiled Him with their mouth, and lied unto Him with their tongue. ³⁷ For their heart was not stedfast with Him, neither were they faithful in His covenant.

¹ Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the fountain of Judah; who swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness. ² For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel, the LORD of hosts is His name.

⁴ Trust ye not in lying words, saying: 'The temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, are these.'

¹⁵ I will go and return to My place, till they acknowledge their guilt, and seek My face; in their trouble they will seek Me earnestly:

¹³ Woe unto them! for they have strayed from Me; Destruction unto them! for they have transgressed against Me; Shall I then redeem them, seeing they have spoken lies against Me? ¹⁴ And they have not cried unto Me with their heart, though they wail upon their beds; they assemble themselves for corn and wine, they rebel against Me.

¹¹ The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money; yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say: 'Is not the LORD in the midst of us? No evil shall come upon us'?

²¹ Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven.

¹¹ Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

²⁵ When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us, and he shall answer and say to you, I know you not whence ye are,

¹⁶ They profess that they know God, but by their works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

⁴ He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him,
