¹⁴ And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the borders of Egypt; very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.

⁵ and they shall cover the face of the earth, that one shall not be able to see the earth; and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field; ⁶ and thy houses shall be filled, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians; as neither thy fathers nor thy fathers' fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth unto this day.' And he turned, and went out from Pharaoh.

⁶ And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there hath been none like it, nor shall be like it any more.

⁴² All thy trees and the fruit of thy land shall the locust possess.

³⁷ If there be in the land famine, if there be pestilence, if there be blasting or mildew, locust or caterpillar; if their enemy besiege them in the land of their cities; whatsoever plague, whatsoever sickness there be;

⁴⁶ He gave also their increase unto the caterpillar, and their labour unto the locust.

³⁴ He spoke, and the locust came, and the canker-worm without number, ³⁵ And did eat up every herb in their land, and did eat up the fruit of their ground.

² Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or in the days of your fathers? ³ Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation. ⁴ That which the palmer-worm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the canker-worm eaten; and that which the canker-worm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten.

¹ Blow ye the horn in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy mountain; let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is at hand; ² A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, as blackness spread upon the mountains; a great people and a mighty, there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after them, even to the years of many generations. ³ A fire devoureth before them, and behind them a flame blazeth; the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing escapeth them. ⁴ The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so do they run. ⁵ Like the noise of chariots, on the tops of the mountains do they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a mighty people set in battle array. ⁶ At their presence the peoples are in anguish; all faces have gathered blackness. ⁷ They run like mighty men, they climb the wall like men of war; and they move on every one in his ways, and they entangle not their paths. ⁸ Neither doth one thrust another, they march every one in his highway; and they break through the weapons, and suffer no harm. ⁹ They leap upon the city, they run upon the wall, they climb up into the houses; they enter in at the windows like a thief. ¹⁰ Before them the earth quaketh, the heavens tremble; the sun and the moon are become black, and the stars withdraw their shining. ¹¹ And the LORD uttereth His voice before His army; for His camp is very great, for he is mighty that executeth His word; for great is the day of the LORD and very terrible; and who can abide it?

³ And out of the smoke came forth locusts upon the earth, and power was given them, as the scorpions of the earth have power. ⁴ And it was said unto them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree, save the men such as have not the seal of God on their foreheads. ⁵ And it was given them that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months; and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when it striketh a man. ⁶ And in those days men shall seek death, and shall in no wise find it, and they shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. ⁷ And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared for war, and upon their heads as it were gold crowns, and their faces were as men's faces.
