⁵ And Ananias hearing these words fell down and gave up the ghost; and great fear came upon all that heard these things.

³ Then Moses said unto Aaron: 'This is it that the LORD spoke, saying: Through them that are nigh unto Me I will be sanctified, and before all the people I will be glorified.' And Aaron held his peace.

²⁶ And he spoke unto the congregation, saying: 'Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be swept away in all their sins.' ²⁷ So they got them up from the dwelling of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side; and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood at the door of their tents, with their wives, and their sons, and their little ones. ²⁸ And Moses said: 'Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works, and that I have not done them of mine own mind. ²⁹ If these men die the common death of all men, and be visited after the visitation of all men, then the LORD hath not sent Me. ³⁰ But if the LORD make a new thing, and the ground open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down alive into the pit, then ye shall understand that these men have despised the LORD.' ³¹ And it came to pass, as he made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground did cleave asunder that was under them. ³² And the earth opened her mouth and swallowed them up, and their households, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. ³³ So they, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit; and the earth closed upon them, and they perished from among the assembly. ³⁴ And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them; for they said: 'Lest the earth swallow us up.'

¹² (17:27) And the children of Israel spoke unto Moses, saying: 'Behold, we perish, we are undone, we are all undone. ¹³ (17:28) Every one that cometh near, that cometh near unto the tabernacle of the LORD, is to die; shall we wholly perish?'

¹¹ (13:12) And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is in the midst of thee.

²¹ And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die; so shalt thou put away the evil from the midst of thee; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

²⁰ Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass concerning the devoted thing, and wrath fell upon all the congregation of Israel? and that man perished not alone in his iniquity.'

¹⁹ And He smote of the men of Beth-shemesh, because they had gazed upon the ark of the LORD, even He smote of the people seventy men, and fifty thousand men; and the people mourned, because the LORD had smitten the people with a great slaughter. ²⁰ And the men of Beth-shemesh said: 'Who is able to stand before the LORD, this holy God? and to whom shall it go up from us?' ²¹ And they sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kiriath-jearim, saying: 'The Philistines have brought back the ark of the LORD; come ye down, and fetch it up to you.'

¹⁰ And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty: 'If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty.' And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. ¹¹ And again he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him: 'O man of God, thus hath the king said: Come down quickly.' ¹² And Elijah answered and said unto them: 'If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty.' And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. ¹³ And again he sent the captain of a third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him: 'O man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight. ¹⁴ Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and consumed the two former captains of fifty with their fifties; but now let my life be precious in thy sight'

²⁴ And he looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she-bears out of the wood, and tore forty and two children of them.

¹² And David was afraid of God that day, saying: 'How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?'

¹³ For because ye bore it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought Him not according to the ordinance.'

⁹ (64:10) And all men fear; and they declare the work of God, and understand His doing.

¹²⁰ My flesh shuddereth for fear of Thee; and I am afraid of Thy judgments.

¹⁴ Wherefore thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts: Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make My words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

¹³ And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then fell I down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said: 'Ah Lord GOD! wilt Thou make a full end of the remnant of Israel?'

⁴³ And fear came upon every soul; and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.

¹⁰ And she fell down immediately at his feet, and gave up the ghost; and the young men came in and found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her by her husband. ¹¹ And great fear came upon the whole church, and upon all that heard these things.

¹³ But of the rest durst no man join himself to them; howbeit the people magnified them,

¹¹ And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness, and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

²¹ What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness?

¹¹ For behold, this selfsame thing, that ye were made sorry after a godly sort, what earnest care it wrought in you, yea what clearing of yourselves, yea what indignation, yea what fear, yea what longing, yea what zeal, yea what avenging! In everything ye approved yourselves to be pure in the matter.

² yea, I beseech you, that I may not when present show courage with the confidence wherewith I count to be bold against some, who count of us as if we walked according to the flesh. ³ For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh ⁴ (for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the casting down of strongholds), ⁵ casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, ⁶ and being in readiness to avenge all disobedience, when your obedience shall be made full.

² I have said beforehand, and I do say beforehand, as when I was present the second time, so now, being absent, I write to them that have sinned heretofore, and to all the rest, that, if I come again, I will not spare,

¹⁰ For this cause I write these things while absent, that I may not when present deal sharply, according to the authority which the Lord gave me for building up, and not for casting down.

⁵ And if any man desireth to hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth and devoureth their enemies, and if any man desireth to hurt them, in this manner must he be killed.

¹³ And in that day there was a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and there were killed in the earthquake seven thousand persons; and the rest were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.
