³ without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good,

⁷ Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce, and their wrath, for it was cruel; I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.

¹ And there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David sought the face of the LORD. And the LORD said: 'It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he put to death the Gibeonites.' ² And the king called the Gibeonites, and said unto them - now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn unto them; and Saul sought to slay them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Judah - ³ and David said unto the Gibeonites: 'What shall I do for you? and wherewith shall I make atonement, that ye may bless the inheritance of the LORD?'

⁴ In whose eyes a vile person is despised, but he honoureth them that fear the LORD; he that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not;

⁶ (22:7) But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

³ He was despised, and forsaken of men, a man of pains, and acquainted with disease, and as one from whom men hide their face: he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

¹⁴ And the sons of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee, and all they that despised thee shall bow down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee The city of the LORD, the Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

¹⁵ But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they might give him horses and much people. Shall he prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? shall he break the covenant, and yet escape? ¹⁶ As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he broke, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die. ¹⁷ Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company succour him in the war, when they cast up mounds and build forts, to cut off many souls; ¹⁸ seeing he hath despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when, lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, he shall not escape. ¹⁹ Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: As I live, surely Mine oath that he hath despised, and My covenant that he hath broken, I will even bring it upon his own head.

²³ And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors have completed their transgression, there shall stand up a king of fierce countenance, and understanding stratagems.

¹ Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

²¹ And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father his child; and children shall rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death.

¹⁶ He that heareth you heareth me, and he that rejecteth you rejecteth me, and he that rejecteth me rejecteth him that sent me.

¹⁴ And the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, heard all these things, and they scoffed at him.

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, Did not I choose you the twelve, and one of you is a devil?

³¹ without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

⁵ Defraud ye not one the other, except it be by consent for a season, that ye may give yourselves unto fasting and prayer, and come together again, that Satan tempt you not because of your incontinency.

⁹ But if they have not continency, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn.

⁸ Therefore he that rejecteth, rejecteth not man, but God, who giveth his Holy Spirit unto you.

¹¹ Women in like manner must be grave, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.

⁸ but given to hospitality, a lover of good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled,

³ that aged women likewise be reverent in demeanor, not slanderers nor enslaved to much wine, teachers of that which is good,

⁶ But ye have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you, and themselves drag you before the judgment-seats?

¹⁴ having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstedfast souls, having a heart exercised in covetousness, children of cursing,

¹⁹ promising them liberty, while they themselves are bondservants of corruption, for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he also brought into bondage.

³ knowing this first, that in the last days mockers shall come, walking after their own lusts,

¹⁶ These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their lusts (and their mouth speaketh great swelling words), showing respect of persons for the sake of advantage.

¹⁸ That they said to you, In the last time there shall be mockers, walking after their own ungodly lusts.

¹⁵ And it was given unto him to give breath to it, even to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as should not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

¹⁷ and that no man is able to buy or to sell, save he that hath the mark, even the name of the beast or the number of his name.

⁶ for they poured out the blood of the saints and the prophets, and blood thou didst give unto them to drink; they are worthy.

⁶ And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, even with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I wondered with a great wonder.
