¹⁵ And the Philistines had war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines; and David waxed faint.

¹⁰ And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as He spoke, these forty and five years, from the time that the LORD spoke this word unto Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness; and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old. ¹¹ As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me; as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, and to go out and to come in.

¹⁷ And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold.

²² And the Philistines came up yet again, and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

²⁵ And David did so, as the LORD commanded him, and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gezer.

⁴ And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines; then Sibbecai the Hushathite slew Sippai, of the sons of the giants; and they were subdued.

²⁸ Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? His discernment is past searching out. ²⁹ He giveth power to the faint; and to him that hath no might He increaseth strength. ³⁰ Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall;

²³ (9:22) Thus saith the LORD: Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches; ²⁴ (9:23) But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth, and knoweth Me, that I am the LORD who exercise mercy, justice, and righteousness, in the earth; for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

²⁴ For, All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower falleth: ²⁵ But the word of the Lord abideth for ever. And this is the word of good tidings which was preached unto you.
