¹¹ And the king of Assyria carried Israel away unto Assyria, and put them in Halah, and in Habor, on the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes;

⁶ In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away unto Assyria, and placed them in Halah, and in Habor, on the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

¹¹ Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly; and shalt thou be delivered?

²⁶ And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tillegath-pilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river of Gozan, unto this day.

⁸ For the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be broken, that it be not a people;

⁴ For before the child shall have knowledge to cry: My father, and: My mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be carried away before the king of Assyria.'

⁹ (9:8) And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in pride and in arrogancy of heart: ¹⁰ (9:9) 'The bricks are fallen, but we will build with hewn stones; the sycamores are cut down, but cedars will we put in their place.' ¹¹ (9:10) Therefore the LORD doth set upon high the adversaries of Rezin against him, and spur his enemies; ¹² (9:11) The Arameans on the east, and the Philistines on the west; and they devour Israel with open mouth. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still. ¹³ (9:12) Yet the people turneth not unto Him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts. ¹⁴ (9:13) Therefore the LORD doth cut off from Israel head and tail, palm-branch and rush, in one day. ¹⁵ (9:14) The elder and the man of rank, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail. ¹⁶ (9:15) For they that lead this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed. ¹⁷ (9:16) Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall He have compassion on their fatherless and widows; for every one is ungodly and an evil-doer, and every mouth speaketh wantonness. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still. ¹⁸ (9:17) For wickedness burneth as the fire; it devoureth the briers and thorns; yea, it kindleth in the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in thick clouds of smoke. ¹⁹ (9:18) Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land burnt up; the people also are as the fuel of fire; no man spareth his brother. ²⁰ (9:19) And one snatcheth on the right hand, and is hungry; and he eateth on the left hand, and is not satisfied; they eat every man the flesh of his own arm: ²¹ (9:20) Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh; and they together are against Judah. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

⁵ O Asshur, the rod of Mine anger, in whose hand as a staff is Mine indignation!

¹¹ Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?'

¹² Have the gods of the nations delivered them, which my fathers have destroyed, Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden that were in Telassar?

⁸ Israel is swallowed up; now are they become among the nations as a vessel wherein is no value. ⁹ For they are gone up to Assyria, like a wild ass alone by himself; Ephraim hath hired lovers.

³ They shall not dwell in the LORD'S land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean food in Assyria.

¹ Hear ye this word which I take up for a lamentation over you, O house of Israel: ² The virgin of Israel is fallen, she shall no more rise; she is cast down upon her land, there is none to raise her up. ³ For thus saith the Lord GOD: The city that went forth a thousand shall have a hundred left, and that which went forth a hundred shall have ten left, of the house of Israel.

⁶ Seek the LORD, and live - lest He break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and it devour, and there be none to quench it in Bethel -

²⁵ Did ye bring unto Me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel? ²⁶ So shall ye take up Siccuth your king and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves. ²⁷ Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith He, whose name is the LORD God of hosts.

⁴³ And ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, And the star of the god Remphan, The figures which ye made to worship them; And I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
