²⁰ For what glory is it, if, when ye sin, and are buffeted for it, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye shall take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

¹⁰ Blessed are they that have been persecuted for righteousness' sake; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ¹¹ Blessed are ye when men shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. ¹² Rejoice, and be exceeding glad; for great is your reward in heaven; for so persecuted they the prophets that were before you.

⁴⁷ And if ye salute your friends only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

⁶⁷ Then did they spit in his face and buffet him; and some smote him with the palms of their hands,

⁶⁵ And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy; and the officers struck him with blows of their hands.

³² And if ye love them that love you, what thank have ye? for even sinners love those that love them.

¹ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. ² And be not fashioned according to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

¹¹ Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling-place,

¹⁰ proving what is well-pleasing unto the Lord,

¹⁸ But I have all things, and abound; I am filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things that came from you, an odor of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well-pleasing to God.

¹⁹ For this is acceptable, if for conscience toward God a man endureth griefs, suffering wrongfully.

¹⁴ But even if ye should suffer for righteousness' sake, blessed are ye; and fear not their fear, neither be troubled,

¹⁷ For it is better, if the will of God should so will, that ye suffer for well-doing than for evil-doing.

¹⁴ If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye, because the Spirit of glory and the Spirit of God resteth upon you; on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. ¹⁵ For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil-doer, or as a meddler in other men's matters: ¹⁶ but if a man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this respect.
