³ And Joab said: 'The LORD make His people a hundred times so many more as they are; but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord's servants? why doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of guilt unto Israel?'

⁹ Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him: 'What hast thou done unto us? and wherein have I sinned against thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.'

²¹ And Moses said unto Aaron: 'What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought a great sin upon them?'

⁹ For when they went up unto the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they turned away the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which the LORD had given them. ¹⁰ And the LORD'S anger was kindled in that day, and He swore, saying:

¹¹ The LORD, the God of your fathers, make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as He hath promised you! -

²⁴ Nay, my sons; for it is no good report which I hear the LORD'S people do spread abroad.

¹⁶ And He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he hath sinned, and wherewith he hath made Israel to sin.'

¹³ Be of good courage, and let us prove strong for our people, and for the cities of our God; and the LORD do that which seemeth Him good.'

¹⁴ The LORD increase you more and more, you and your children.

²⁸ In the multitude of people is the king's glory; but in the want of people is the ruin of the prince.

¹⁵ Thou hast gotten Thee honour with the nations, O LORD, yea, exceeding great honour with the nations; Thou art honoured unto the farthest ends of the earth.

¹⁹ Thy seed also would be as the sand, and the offspring of thy body like the grains thereof; his name would not be cut off nor destroyed from before Me.
