¹⁹ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a drunk, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Absolved from every act of sin, is wisdom by her kith and kin.”

⁵ How great are your works, LORD! Your thoughts are unfathomable. ⁶ A stupid man doesn’t know, and a fool can’t comprehend this:

²⁴ A person with understanding has wisdom as his objective, but a fool looks only to earthly goals.

¹⁰ While he was having dinner at Matthew’s home, many tax collectors and sinners arrived and began eating with Jesus and his disciples. ¹¹ The Pharisees saw this and asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

²⁹ Later, Levi gave a large banquet at his home for Jesus. A large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them. ³⁰ The Pharisees and their scribes started complaining to Jesus’ disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

²⁹ By having been baptized with John’s baptism, all the people who listened, including the tax collectors, acknowledged God’s justice.

³⁶ Jesus Forgives a Sinful WomanNow one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to eat with him. So he went to the Pharisee’s home and took his place at the table.

¹ Jesus Heals a Man on the SabbathOne Sabbath, Jesus went to the house of a leader of the Pharisees to eat a meal. The guests were watching Jesus closely.

Now all the tax collectors and sinners kept coming to listen to Jesus. ² But the Pharisees and the scribes kept complaining, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”

⁷ But all the people who saw this began to complain: “Jesus is going to be the guest of a notorious sinner!”

² and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.

² There they gave a dinner for him. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those at the table with him. ³ Mary took a litron of very expensive perfume made of pure nard and anointed Jesus’ feet. She wiped his feet with her hair, and the house became filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
⁴ But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, who was going to betray him, asked, ⁵ “Why wasn’t this perfume sold for 300 denarii and the money given to the destitute?” ⁶ He said this, not because he cared about the destitute, but because he was a thief. He was in charge of the moneybag and would steal what was put into it.
⁷ Then Jesus said, “Leave her alone so she can observe the day of my burial, ⁸ because you will always have the destitute with you, but you won’t always have me.”

² Each of us must please our neighbor for the good purpose of building him up.

²⁴ but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, the Messiah is God’s power and God’s wisdom. ²⁵ For God’s nonsense is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.
²⁶ Brothers, think about your own calling. Not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. ²⁷ But God chose what is nonsense in the world to make the wise feel ashamed. God chose what is weak in the world to make the strong feel ashamed. ²⁸ And God chose what is insignificant in the world, what is despised, what is nothing, in order to destroy what is something, ²⁹ so that no one may boast in God’s presence.

⁸ To me, the very least of all the saints, this grace was given so that I might proclaim to the gentiles the immeasurable wealth of the Messiah ⁹ and help everyone see how this secret that has been at work was hidden for ages by God, who created all things. ¹⁰ He did this so that now, through the church, the wisdom of God in all its variety might be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realm

¹¹ The Vision of the Song of the LambThen I looked, and I heard the voices of many angels, the living creatures, and the elders surrounding the throne. They numbered 10,000’s times 10,000 and thousands times thousands. ¹² They sang with a loud voice, “Worthy is the lamb who was slaughtered to receive power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and praise!” ¹³ I heard every creature in heaven, on earth, under the earth, and on the sea, and everything that is in them, saying, “To the one who sits on the throne and to the lamb be praise, honor, glory, and power forever and ever!” ¹⁴ Then the four living creatures said, “Amen!”, and the elders bowed down and worshipped.
