²³ How the hammer of all the earth is cut off and broken! How Babylon has become a horror among the nations!

⁴ you will lift up this song of mockery against the king of Babylon: “How the oppressor has come to an end! How the attacker has ceased! ⁵ The LORD has broken the staff of the wicked, the scepter of rulers, ⁶ that struck down peoples in anger with unceasing blows, that oppressed nations in fury with relentless persecution.

¹² The Fall of the Day Star“How you have fallen from heaven, Day Star, son of the Dawn! How you have been thrown down to earth, you who laid low the nation! ¹³ You said in your heart, ‘I’ll ascend to heaven, above the stars of God. ²⁰ The LORD’s Instrument of Judgment“You are my war-club and weapons of war. I’ll smash nations with you and destroy kingdoms with you. ²¹ I’ll smash the horse and its rider with you. I’ll smash the chariot and its rider with you. ²² I’ll smash man and woman with you. I’ll smash old man and young boy with you. I’ll smash young man and young woman with you. ²³ I’ll smash the shepherd and his flock with you. I’ll smash the farmer and his team of oxen with you. I’ll smash governors and officials with you.
