¹³ Then commeth Iesus from Galile to Iordan vnto Iohn to be baptysed of hym.

²² But when he hearde that Arthelaus dyd raygne in Iewry, in the rowme of his father Herode, he was afrayde to go thither. Notwithstandinge, after he was warned of God in a slepe, he turned a syde into the parties of Galile,

⁹ And it came to passe in those dayes, that Iesus cam from Nazareth, of Galile: and was baptysed of Iohn in Iordan: ¹⁰ And assone as he was come vp out of the water: he sawe heauen open, & the sprete descendynge vpon him lyke adoue: ¹¹ And ther came a voyce from heauen. Thou art my deare sonne in whom I delyte.

²¹ And it fortuned that whan all the people receaued baptime (& when Iesus was baptised and dyd praye) the heauen was opened, ²² and the holy goost cam downe in a bodely shape lyke a doue vpon him, and a voyce came from heauen, which sayde: Thou arte my beloued sonne, in the do I delyte.

³² And Iohn bare recorde, sayinge: I sawe the sprete descende from heauen, lyke vnto a doue, & abode vpon him, ³³ and I knewe hym not. But he that sent me to baptise in water, the same sayde vnto me: vpon whom thou shalt se the sprete descende, and tary styll on hym, the same is he whych baptiseth wyth the holy goost. ³⁴ And I sawe, and bare recorde, that he is the sonne of God.
