¹⁷ He sayd vnto him: why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, & that is God. But yf thou wilt entre into lyfe, kepe the commaundementes.

⁵ Ye shall kepe therfore myne ordinaunces, & my iudgementes whiche yf a man doo, he shall lyue in them. I am the Lorde.

² There is none so holye as the Lord, for without the, is nothing. Nether is there any of strength as is oure God.

²⁹ & testyfyedst vnto them, that thou myghtest bryng them agayne vnto thy lawe. Not withstandyng, they were proude, & herkened not vnto thy commaundementes, but synned in thy lawes (whych yf a man do he shall lyue in them,) and turned the shoulder awaye, and were styffnecked, and wolde not heare.

⁷ The memoriall of thyne aboundant kyndnes shalbe shewed, and men shall synge of thy ryghteousnesse. ⁸ The Lorde is gracyous and mercyfull, long sufferynge, and of greate goodnesse. ⁹ The Lord is louyng vnto euery man, and hys mercy is ouer all hys workes.

¹¹ I gaue them my commaundementes, & shewed them my lawes, which whoso kepeth shall lyue in them: ¹² I gaue them also my holy dayes, to be a token betwixte me & them, & therby to knowe, that I am the Lorde, which halowe them.

²¹ Notwythstandynge, their sonnes rebelled agaynst me also: they walked not in my statutes they kepte not my lawes to fulfyll them (which he that doth shall lyue in them) nether halowed they my Sabboth dayes. Then I made me agayne to poure out my indignacion ouer them, & to satisfye my wrath vpon them in the wyldernesse.

²⁶ He sayde vnto him: What is written in the lawe? How redest thou? ²⁷ And he answered and sayde: loue the Lorde thy God, with all thy hert, & with all thy soule, & with all thy strength, & with all thy mynde: and thy neyghbour as thy selfe. ²⁸ And he sayde vnto him: Thou hast answered right. This do, and thou shalt lyue.

⁵ For Moses wrytteth of the ryghtewesnes which cometh of the lawe, how that the man whych doth the thynges of the lawe, shall lyue therby.

¹¹ That no man is iustifyed by the lawe in the syght of God, it is euydent. For the iuste shall lyue by fayth. ¹² The lawe is not of fayth: but the man that fulfylleth the thinges shal lyue in them. ¹³ Christ hath deliuered vs from the curse of the lawe, in as moche as he was made accursed for vs: For it is written: cursed is euery one, that hangeth on tree,

¹⁷ Euery good gyfte, and euery parfayt gyft, is from aboue, and commeth downe from the father of lyghtes wt whome is no variablenes, nether is he chaunged vnto darcknes.

⁸ He that loueth not, knoweth not God: for God is loue. ⁹ In this appeared the loue of God to vs ward, because that God sent hys onely begotten sonne into the worlde, that we might liue thorow him. ¹⁰ Herin is loue, not that we loued God, but that he loued vs, & sent hys sonne to be the agrement for oure synnes.

¹⁶ And we haue knowen and beleued the loue that God hath to vs. God is loue, & he that dwelleth in loue, dwelleth in God, and God in him.
