⁷ Maruayle not thou that I sayd to the, ye must be borne from aboue.

¹⁴ What is man, that he shulde be cleane? what hath he (which is borne of a woman) wherby he myght be righteous?

³³ Another similitude spake he vnto them: The kyngdom of heauen is lyke vnto leuen, which a woman taketh and hydeth in thre peckes of meale, tyll all be leuened. ³⁴ All these thinges spake Iesus vnto the people by similitudes, & with out a parable spake he nothynge vnto them, ³⁵ that it myght be fulfylled, which was spoken by the prophet, that sayth I will open my mouth in parables: I wyll speake forth thynges which haue bene kepte secrete from the begynning of the world.

³ Iesus answered & sayd vnto him: Uerely, verely, I saye vnto the, except a man be borne from aboue, he cannot se the kyngdom of God.

¹² If I haue tolde you earthly thinges, and ye beleue not: how shall ye beleue, yf I tell you of heauenly thynges.

²⁸ Maruayle not at this: for the houre shal come, in that which, all that are in the graues, shall heare hys voyce,

⁶¹ Iesus knewe in him selfe, that his disciples murmured at it, & he sayd vnto them: Doth this offende you? ⁶² What and yf ye shall se the sonne of man ascende vp thither where he was before? ⁶³ It is the sprete that quyckeneth, the flesh proffyteth nothinge. The wordes that I speake vnto you, are sprete and lyfe.

⁹ What then? Are we better then they? No, in no wyse. For we haue all ready proued, how that both Iewes and Gentyls are all vnder synne, ¹⁰ as it is wrytten. there is none ryghteous, no not one: ¹¹ there is none that vnderstandeth, there is none that seketh after God: ¹² they are all gone out of the waye, they are all vnprofytable, ther is none that doeth good, no not one. ¹³ Theyr throte is an open sepulcre, with theyr tounges they haue disceaued: the poyson of aspes is vnder theyr lyppes. ¹⁴ Whose mouth is full of curssynge and bytternes. ¹⁵ Their fete are swyfte to shed bloud. ¹⁶ Destruccyon and wretchednes are in theyr wayes, ¹⁷ and the waye of peace haue they not knowen. ¹⁸ There is no feare of God before theyr eyes. ¹⁹ We knowe that what thynges soeuer the lawe sayth, it sayth it to them which are vnder the lawe. That all mouthes maye be stopped, & that all the worlde maye be subdued to God,

²² Euen so, God willyng to shewe hys wrath, and to make his power knowen suffered wyth longe pacyence the vessels of wrath, ordeyned to damnacyon, ²³ and to declare the ryches of hys glory on the vessels of mercye, which he had prepared vnto glorye: ²⁴ whom also he called, not of the Iewes onely, but also of the gentyls. ²⁵ As he sayth also to Osee? I wyll call them my people which were not my people: and her beloued which was not beloued, (and her to haue optayned mercy, that had not optayned mercy)

¹ I beseche you therfore brethren, by the mercyfulnes of God, that ye make yor bodies a quycke sacryfice, holy & acceptable vnto God: which is youre resonable seruynge of God ² & fassyon not youre selues lyke vnto this worlde: but be ye chaunged in youre shape, by the renuyng of your mynde, that ye maye proue what thynge that good, and acceptable, and perfaycte wyll of God is.

²² (as concernynge the conuersacyon in tyme past) to laye from you that olde man, which is corrupte, accordynge to the deceauable lustes. ²³ To be renued also in the sprete of youre mynde, ²⁴ and to put on that newe man, which after God is shapen in ryghte wesnes and true holynes.

¹² geuynge thankes vnto the father, which hath made vs mete to be partakers of the inheritaunce of saynctes in lyght,

¹⁴ Folow peace with all men and holynes: with out the which no man shall se the Lorde.

¹⁴ as obedient chyldren, that ye geue not youre selues ouer vnto youre olde lustes, ¹⁵ by whych ye were led, whan as yet ye were ignoraunt of Christ: but as he which called you, is holy, euen so be ye holy also in all maner of conuersacyon, ¹⁶ because it is written. Be holy, for I am holy.

²² euen ye whych haue purifyed youre soules thorow the sprete, in obeynge the trueth wyth brotherly loue vnfayned, se that ye loue one another wyth a pure hert feruently:

²⁷ And there shall enter into it none vncleane thinge, nether whatsoeuer worketh abhomynacion or maketh lyes: but they only which are wrytten in the lambes boke of lyfe.
