⁹ And you must not call anyone on earth your father, for you have only one father, your heavenly Father.

⁸ You must not be like them. For God, who is your Father, knows what you need before you ask him. ⁹ This, therefore, is the way you are to pray: 'Our Father in heaven, Your name be revered!

³² For these are all things the heathen are in pursuit of, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need all this.

¹¹ So if you, bad as you are, know enough to give your children what is good, how much more surely will your Father in heaven give what is good to those who ask him for it!

¹⁸ I will become a father to you, And you shall become my sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty."

¹ Never reprove an older man, but appeal to him as to a father. Treat younger men like brothers, ² older women like mothers, younger ones like sisters, with absolute purity.

⁹ When our earthly fathers disciplined us we treated them with respect; should we not far more submit to the Father of our spirits, and so have life?

¹ Think what love the Father has had for us, in letting us be called God's children, for that is what we are. This is why the world does not know what we are—because it has never come to know him.
