¹³ Therefore I speak to them in parables; because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

¹⁶ But happy are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.

¹⁷ And Jesus knowing says to them, Why do you reason because you have not bread? do you not yet know, nor understand? have you your heart still hardened? ¹⁸ Having eyes, do you not see? having ears, do you not hear? and do you not remember?

¹⁹ And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men love darkness rather than light; for their works are evil. ²⁰ For every one doing evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, in order that his works may not be convicted;

³⁹ And Jesus said, For judgment I came into this world, that those not seeing may see; and those seeing may be made blind. ⁴⁰ And those of the Pharisees being with Him heard, and said to Him, Whether are we also blind? ⁴¹ Jesus said to them, If you were blind you would not have sin: but now you say that, We see: your sin remaineth.

³ But if indeed our gospel is hidden, it is hidden with those who are lost: ⁴ in whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of those who believe not, in order that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, may not shine on them.
