¹¹ And the Pharisees came out, and began to question Him, seeking from Him a sign from heaven. tempting Him.

³⁸ Then certain ones of the scribes and Pharisees responded, saying, Teacher, we wish to see a sign from Thee.

¹ And the Pharisees and Sadducees having come to Him, tempting Him, asked Him to show them a sign from heaven. ² And He responding said to them, It being evening, you say, It will be fair weather: because the sky is red: ³ and in the morning, It will be stormy to-day: for the lowering sky is red: ye hypocrites, you know how to discern the face of the sky: but are you not able to discern the signs of the times? ⁴ A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign. And no sign shall be given it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah. And leaving them, He departed. ⁵ His disciples having come to the other side forgot to take bread. ⁶ And Jesus said to them; See and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees. ⁷ And they were reasoning among themselves, saying, That it is because we did not take bread. ⁸ And Jesus knowing said to them, Why do you reason among yourselves, O ye of little faith, because you did not take bread? ⁹ Do you not yet understand? do you not remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? ¹⁰ Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up? ¹¹ How do you not understand that I did not speak to you concerning bread, to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees. ¹² Then they understood that He did not say to beware of the leaven of the (bread) of the Pharisees and Sadducees, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

³ And the Pharisees came to Him, tempting Him, and saying to Him; Is it lawful for a man to send away his wife for any cause?

²³ And the chief priests and elders of the people came to Him, while teaching, He having come into the temple, saying, By what authority are you doing these things? And who gave you this authority?

¹⁵ Then the Pharisees going forth, took counsel how they might ensnare Him in His speech.

¹⁸ And Jesus knowing their wickedness, said, Why tempt ye me, O ye hypocrites?

²³ On that day the Sadducees came to Him, saying, there is no resurrection: and asked Him,

³⁴ And the Pharisees, hearing that He silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together. ³⁵ And one of them, a theologian, tempting Him, asked Him also, saying,

¹⁶ And the scribes and Pharisees, seeing Him eating with the publicans and sinners, were saying to His disciples, Why does He eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

¹ And the Pharisees and certain ones of the scribes, having come from Jerusalem, gather to Him. ² And seeing certain ones of His disciples eating bread with defiled, that is, unwashed hands.

¹⁵ And knowing their hypocrisy, He said to them, Why tempt ye me? Bring to me the denarion, that I may see it.

²⁵ And behold, a certain lawyer stood up tempting Him, saying, Teacher, having done what shall I inherit eternal life?

¹⁶ And others tempting, continued to seek with Him a sign from heaven.

⁵³ And He having come out from thence, the scribes and Pharisees began vehemently to press on Him, and mouth after Him concerning many things; ⁵⁴ laying in wait, to catch something from His mouth.

⁵⁴ And he also spoke to the multitudes, When you may see a cloud rising from the west, you immediately say, that the rain cometh; and it is so: ⁵⁵ and when the south wind is blowing, you say, that it will be hot; and it is so. ⁵⁶ You hypocrites, you know how to discern the face of the earth and the firmament; and how do you not discern this time? ⁵⁷ Why do you not judge righteous judgment, even with reference to yourselves?

⁴⁸ Then Jesus said to him, Unless you may see signs and wonders, you can not believe.

³⁰ Then they said to Him, Then what miracle do you perform, that we may see, and believe you, what you may do?

⁴⁸ Whether has any one of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on Him?

⁹ And Peter said to her; Why has it been agreed with you to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of those having buried thy husband are at the door, and they will carry thee out.

²² Since indeed the Jews ask for miracles, and the Greeks seek after wisdom; ²³ but we preach Christ having been crucified, to the Jews indeed a stumbling block, and to the Gentiles foolishness;

⁹ Neither let us tempt the Lord, as some of them tempted Him, and were destroyed by serpents.
