And they continued to cry out more vociferously, saying, Let Him be crucified. 24 And Pilate seeing that he profits nothing, but rather an uproar supervenes, having taken water, washed his hands in the presence of the multitude, saying, For I am free from the blood of this just one: you shall see to it. 25 And all the people responding said, His blood be upon us, and upon our children. 26 Then he released unto them Barabbas.And having scourged Jesus, delivered Him up that He should be crucified.

Mark 15:6-15

John 18:39-40

39 There is a custom to you, that I release unto you one during the passover. Then do you wish that I may release unto you the King of the Jews? 40 Then they all again cried out, saying, Not Him, but Barabbas. And Barabbas was a robber.
