¹⁷ if any one may will to do His will, he shall know concerning the teaching, whether it is of God, or I speak for myself.

¹ And a certain man in Caesarea, by name Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian, ² devout, and fearing God with all his house, and doing many alms to the people, and praying to God always; ³ saw openly in a vision about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming to him and saying to him, Cornelius. ⁴ And he looking upon him, and being afraid, said, What is it, Lord? And he said to him, Thy prayer and thine alms have come up for a memorial before God. ⁵ And now send men to Joppa, and call for a certain Simon, who is called Peter: ⁶ he is lodging with a certain Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea.

¹³ And he proclaimed to us how he saw an angel standing in his house, and saying, Send to Joppa, and call for Simon, who is called Peter; ¹⁴ who will speak words to you, by which you and your whole family may be saved.

¹¹ but these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, who received the word with all enthusiasm, searching the scriptures daily, if these things are so.

¹⁵ Therefore let us, so many as are perfect, think the same thing: and if you think otherwise in any respect, God will also reveal this to you: ¹⁶ only, whereunto we have already attained, to walk by the same rule.
