¹⁹ For he hath vndone many: he hath forsaken the poore, and hath spoyled houses which he builded not.

³³ The fruite of thy land and all thy labours shall a people, which thou knowest not, eate, and thou shalt neuer but suffer wrong, and violence alway:

³ Beholde, here I am: beare recorde of me before the Lord and before his Anointed. Whose oxe haue I taken? or whose asse haue I taken? or whome haue I done wrong to? or whome haue I hurt? or of whose hande haue I receiued any bribe, to blinde mine eyes therewith, and I will restore it you? ⁴ Then they sayde, Thou hast done vs no wrong, nor hast hurt vs, neither hast thou taken ought of any mans hand.

¹⁹ Therefore shalt thou say vnto him, Thus sayth the Lord, Hast thou killed, and also gotten possession? And thou shalt speake vnto him, saying, Thus sayth the Lord, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth, shall dogs licke euen thy blood also.

¹⁵ Feare shall dwell in his house (because it is not his) and brimstone shalbe scattered vpon his habitation.

²⁷ Behold, I know your thoughts, and the enterprises, wherewith ye do me wrong. ²⁸ For ye say, Where is the princes house? and where is the tabernacle of the wickeds dwelling?

⁶ For thou hast taken the pledge from thy brother for nought, and spoyled the clothes of the naked.

² Some remoue the land marks, that rob the flockes and feede thereof. ³ They leade away the asse of the fatherles: and take the widowes oxe to pledge. ⁴ They make the poore to turne out of the way, so that the poore of the earth hide themselues together. ⁵ Behold, others as wilde asses in the wildernesse, goe forth to their businesse, and rise early for a praye: the wildernesse giueth him and his children foode. ⁶ They reape his prouision in the fielde, but they gather the late vintage of the wicked. ⁷ They cause the naked to lodge without garment, and without couering in the colde. ⁸ They are wet with the showres of the moutaines, and they imbrace the rocke for want of a couering. ⁹ They plucke the fatherles from the breast, and take the pledge of the poore. ¹⁰ They cause him to go naked without clothing, and take the glening from the hungrie. ¹¹ They that make oyle betweene their walles, and treade their wine presses, suffer thirst. ¹² Men cry out of the citie, and the soules of the slayne cry out: yet God doth not charge them with follie.

¹³ If I did contemne the iudgement of my seruant, and of my mayde, when they did contend with me, ¹⁴ What then shall I do when God standeth vp? and when he shall visit me, what shall I answere? ¹⁵ He that hath made me in the wombe, hath he not made him? hath not he alone facioned vs in the wombe? ¹⁶ If I restrained the poore of their desire, or haue caused the eyes of the widow to faile, ¹⁷ Or haue eaten my morsels alone, and the fatherles hath not eaten thereof, ¹⁸ (For from my youth hee hath growen vp with me as with a father, and from my mothers wombe I haue bene a guide vnto her) ¹⁹ If I haue seene any perish for want of clothing, or any poore without couering, ²⁰ If his loynes haue not blessed me, because he was warmed with the fleece of my sheepe, ²¹ If I haue lift vp mine hande against the fatherlesse, when I saw that I might helpe him in the gate, ²² Let mine arme fal from my shoulder, and mine arme be broken from the bone.

³⁸ If my lande cry against me, or the furrowes thereof complayne together, ³⁹ If I haue eaten the fruites thereof without siluer: or if I haue grieued the soules of the masters thereof,

⁹ They cause many that are oppressed, to crye, which crye out for ye violence of the mightie.

¹⁸ To iudge the fatherlesse and poore, that earthly man cause to feare no more.

⁵ Now for the oppression of the needy, and for the sighes of the poore, I will vp, sayeth the Lord, and will set at libertie him, whom the wicked hath snared.

³¹ He that oppresseth the poore, reprooueth him that made him: but hee honoureth him, that hath mercie on the poore.

²² Robbe not the poore, because hee is poore, neither oppresse the afflicted in iudgement. ²³ For the Lord will defende their cause, and spoyle the soule of those that spoyle them.

¹ So I turned and considered all the oppressions that are wrought vnder the sunne, and beholde the teares of the oppressed, and none comforteth them: and lo, the strength is of the hand of them that oppresse them, and none comforteth them.

⁸ And the abundance of the earth is ouer all: the King also consisteth by the fielde that is tilled.

⁷ Surely the vineyard of the Lord of hostes is the house of Israel, and the men of Iudah are his pleasant plant, and hee looked for iudgement, but beholde oppression: for righteousnesse, but beholde a crying. ⁸ Woe vnto them that ioyne house to house, and laye fielde to fielde, till there bee no place, that ye may be placed by your selues in the mids of the earth.

³⁴ In stamping vnder his feete all the prisoners of the earth,

²⁹ The people of the land haue violently oppressed by spoyling and robbing, and haue vexed the poore and the needy: yea, they haue oppressed the stranger against right.

¹ Heare this worde, ye kine of Bashan that are in the mountaine of Samaria, which oppresse the poore, and destroy the needie, and they say to their masters, Bring, and let vs drinke. ² The Lord God hath sworne by his holines, that loe, the dayes shall come vpon you, that hee wil take you away with thornes, and your posteritie with fish hookes. ³ And ye shall goe out at the breaches euery kow forward: and ye shall cast your selues out of the palace, saith the Lord.

² And they couet fields, and take them by violence, and houses, and take them away: so they oppresse a man and his house, euen man and his heritage.

⁹ The women of my people haue ye cast out from their pleasant houses, and from their childre haue ye taken away my glorie continually.

⁶ But ye haue despised the poore. Doe not the riche oppresse you by tyrannie, and doe not they drawe you before the iudgement seates?

¹³ For there shalbe condemnation merciles to him that sheweth not mercie, and mercie reioyceth against condemnation.

⁴ Behold, the hire of ye labourers, which haue reaped your fieldes (which is of you kept backe by fraude) cryeth, and the cryes of them which haue reaped, are entred into the eares of the Lord of hostes.
