¹⁸ For if the inheritance be of the Lawe, it is no more by the promise, but God gaue it freely vnto Abraham by promise.

⁶ Ye seede of Abraham his seruant, ye children of Iaakob, which are his elect. ⁷ He is the Lord our God: his iudgements are through all the earth. ⁸ He hath alway remembred his couenant and promise, that he made to a thousand generations, ⁹ Euen that which he made with Abraham, and his othe vnto Izhak: ¹⁰ And since hath confirmed it to Iaakob for a lawe, and to Israel for an euerlasting couenant, ¹¹ Saying, Vnto thee will I giue the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance. ¹² Albeit they were fewe in nomber, yea, very fewe, and strangers in the land,

⁴² For he remembred his holy promise to Abraham his seruant,

¹⁸ Who is a God like vnto thee, that taketh away iniquitie, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage! He reteineth not his wrath for euer, because mercie pleaseth him. ¹⁹ He will turne againe, and haue compassion vpon vs: he will subdue our iniquities, and cast all their sinnes into the bottome of the sea. ²⁰ Thou wilt perfourme thy trueth to Iaakob, and mercie to Abraham, as thou hast sworne vnto our fathers in olde time.

⁵⁴ Hee hath vpholden Israel his seruaunt to be mindefull of his mercie ⁵⁵ (As hee hath spoken to our fathers, to wit, to Abraham, and his seede) for euer.

⁷² That he might shewe mercie towards our fathers, and remember his holy couenant, ⁷³ And the othe which he sware to our father Abraham.

¹³ For the promise that he should be the heire of the worlde, was not giuen to Abraham, or to his seede, through the Lawe, but through the righteousnesse of faith. ¹⁴ For if they which are of the Lawe, be heires, faith is made voide, and the promise is made of none effect. ¹⁵ For the Lawe causeth wrath: for where no Lawe is, there is no transgression. ¹⁶ Therefore it is by faith, that it might come by grace, and the promise might be sure to all the seede, not to that onely which is of the Lawe: but also to that which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of vs all,

¹⁷ If we be children, we are also heires, euen the heires of God, and heires annexed with Christ: if so be that we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.

²¹ I doe not abrogate the grace of God: for if righteousnes be by the Lawe, then Christ dyed without a cause.

¹⁰ For as many as are of the workes of the Lawe, are vnder the curse: for it is written, Cursed is euery man that continueth not in all things, which are written in the booke of the Law, to doe them.

¹² And the Lawe is not of faith: but the man that shall doe those things, shall liue in them.

¹⁶ Nowe to Abraham and his seede were the promises made. Hee saith not, And to the seedes, as speaking of many: but, And to thy seede, as of one, which is Christ.

²⁶ For ye are al the sonnes of God by faith, in Christ Iesus.

²⁹ And if ye be Christes, then are ye Abrahams seede, and heires by promise.

¹² That ye be not slouthfull, but followers of them, which through faith and patience, inherite the promises. ¹³ For when God made the promise to Abraham, because he had no greater to sweare by, he sware by himselfe, ¹⁴ Saying, Surely I wil aboundantly blesse thee and multiplie thee marueilously. ¹⁵ And so after that he had taried patiently, he enioyed the promise.
