⁸ Beholde, the eyes of the Lord God are vpon the sinfull kingdome, and I will destroy it cleane out of the earth. Neuerthelesse I will not vtterly destroy the house of Iaakob, saith the Lord.

⁷ Therefore ye Lord said, I will destroy from the earth the man, whom I haue created, from man to beast, to the creeping thing, and to the foule of the heauen: for I repent that I haue made them.

⁴ For seuen dayes hence I will cause it raine vpon the earth fourtie dayes and fourtie nightes, and all the substance that I haue made, will I destroy from off the earth.

³¹ (For the Lord thy God is a mercifull God) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the couenant of thy fathers, which hee sware vnto them.

¹⁵ (For the Lord thy God is a ielous God among you:) least the wrath of the Lord thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from the face of the earth.

³⁴ And this thing turned to sinne vnto the house of Ieroboam, euen to roote it out, and destroy it from the face of the earth.

⁴ The Lord is in his holy palace: the Lordes throne is in the heauen: his eyes wil consider: his eye lids will try the children of men. ⁵ The Lord will try the righteous: but the wicked and him that loueth iniquitie, doeth his soule hate. ⁶ Vpon the wicked he shall raine snares, fire, and brimstone, and stormie tempest: this is the porcion of their cup.

²¹ For the waies of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his pathes.

³ The eyes of the Lord in euery place beholde the euill and the good.

⁷ Hath hee smitten him as hee smote those that smote him? or is hee slaine according to the slaughter of them that were slaine by him? ⁸ In measure in the branches thereof wilt thou contende with it, when he bloweth with his rough winde in the day of the East winde.

¹⁰ Clime vp vpon their walles, and destroy them, but make not a full ende: take away their batilments, for they are not the Lords.

¹¹ For I am with thee, sayth the Lord, to saue thee: though I vtterly destroy all the nations where I haue scattered thee, yet will I not vtterly destroy thee, but I will correct thee by iudgement, and not vtterly cut thee off.

³⁵ Thus saith the Lord, which giueth the sunne for a light to the day, and the courses of the moone and of the starres for a light to the night, which breaketh the sea, when the waues thereof roare: his Name is the Lord of hostes. ³⁶ If these ordinances depart out of my sight, saith the Lord, then shall the seede of Israel cease from being a nation before me, for euer.

²⁴ Considerest thou not what this people haue spoken, saying, The two families, which the Lord hath chosen, hee hath euen cast them off? thus they haue despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them. ²⁵ Thus sayth the Lord, If my couenant be not with day and night, and if I haue not appointed the order of heauen and earth, ²⁶ Then will I cast away the seede of Iaakob and Dauid my seruant, and not take of his seede to be rulers ouer the seede of Abraham, Izhak, and Iaakob: for I wil cause their captiuitie to returne, and haue compassion on them.

²⁷ Behold, I wil watch ouer them for euil and not for good, and all men of Iudah that are in the land of Egypt, shalbe consumed by the sword, and by the famine, vntill they be vtterly destroied.

⁶ She conceiued yet againe, and bare a daughter, and God saide vnto him, Call her name Lo-ruhamah: for I will no more haue pitie vpon the house of Israel: but I wil vtterly take them away.

¹¹ Ephraim their glorie shall flee away like a birde: from the birth and from the wombe, and from the conception. ¹² Though they bring vp their children, yet I will depriue them from being men: yea, woe to them, when I depart from them. ¹³ Ephraim, as I sawe, is as a tree in Tyrus planted in a cottage: but Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murtherer. ¹⁴ O Lord, giue them: what wilt thou giue them? giue them a baren wombe and drie breasts. ¹⁵ All their wickednesse is in Gilgal: for there doe I hate them: for the wickednesse of their inuentions, I will cast them out of mine House: I will loue them no more: all their princes are rebels. ¹⁶ Ephraim is smitten, their roote is dried vp: they can bring no fruite: yea, though they bring foorth, yet will I slaie euen the dearest of their bodie. ¹⁷ My God will cast them away, because they did not obey him: and they shall wander among the nations.

¹⁵ Though he grewe vp among his brethren, an East winde shall come, euen the winde of the Lord shall come vp from the wildernesse, and drie vp his veine, and his fountaine shalbe dryed vp: he shall spoyle the treasure of all pleasant vessels. ¹⁶

³² But whosoeuer shall call on the Name of the Lord, shalbe saued: for in mount Zion, and in Ierusale shalbe deliuerance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant, whom the Lord shall call.

⁴ And though they goe into captiuitie before their enemies, thence wil I commande the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes vpon them for euill, and not for good.

¹⁶ For as yee haue drunke vpon mine holy Mountaine, so shall all the heathen drinke continually: yea, they shall drinke and swallow vp, and they shalbe as though they had not bene. ¹⁷ But vpon mount Zion shalbe deliuerance, and it shalbe holy, and the house of Iaakob shall possesse their possessions,

¹ I Demaund then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid: for I also am an Israelite, of the seede of Abraham, of the tribe of Beniamin. ² God hath not cast away his people which he knew before. Know ye not what the Scripture sayth of Elias, howe hee communeth with God against Israel, saying, ³ Lord, they haue killed thy Prophets, and digged downe thine altars: and I am left alone, and they seeke my life? ⁴ But what saith the answere of God to him? I haue reserued vnto my selfe seuen thousand men, which haue not bowed the knee to Baal. ⁵ Euen so then at this present time is there a remnant according to the election of grace. ⁶ And if it be of grace, it is no more of workes: or els were grace no more grace: but if it be of workes, it is no more grace: or els were worke no more worke. ⁷ What then? Israel hath not obtained that he sought: but the election hath obteined it, and the rest haue bene hardened,

²⁸ As concerning the Gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloued for the fathers sakes. ²⁹ For the giftes and calling of God are without repentance.
