¹⁴ Now after that John was delivered up, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God,

¹ The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening [of the prison] to them that are bound; ² to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; ³ to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

¹² Now when he heard that John was delivered up, he withdrew into Galilee;

²³ And Jesus went about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of disease and all manner of sickness among the people.

³⁵ And Jesus went about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of disease and all manner of sickness.

² Now when John heard in the prison the works of the Christ, he sent by his disciples,

² and said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore do these powers work in him.

²⁰ added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.

¹⁷ And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Isaiah. And he opened the book, and found the place where it was written, ¹⁸ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, Because he anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor: He hath sent me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovering of sight to the blind, To set at liberty them that are bruised, ¹⁹ To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.

⁴³ But he said unto them, I must preach the good tidings of the kingdom of God to the other cities also: for therefore was I sent. ⁴⁴ And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.

¹ And it came to pass soon afterwards, that he went about through cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good tidings of the kingdom of God, and with him the twelve,

²² After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized. ²³ And John also was baptizing in AEnon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized. ²⁴ For John was not yet cast into prison.

²⁵ And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I went about preaching the kingdom, shall see my face no more.

²³ And when they had appointed him a day, they came to him into his lodging in great number; to whom he expounded [the matter], testifying the kingdom of God, and persuading them concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses and from the prophets, from morning till evening.

¹⁷ and he came and preached peace to you that were far off, and peace to them that were nigh:
