⁶ Then flew one of the seraphim unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:

¹² and he shall take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil:

² Above him stood the seraphim: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

² And he spake unto the man clothed in linen, and said, Go in between the whirling [wheels], even under the cherub, and fill both thine hands with coals of fire from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city. And he went in in my sight.

²¹ yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. ²² And he instructed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to make thee skilful of understanding. ²³ At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment went forth, and I am come to tell thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore consider the matter, and understand the vision.

¹¹ I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and [with] fire:

³ And there appeared unto them tongues parting asunder, like as of fire; and it sat upon each one of them.

⁷ And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels winds, And his ministers a flame of fire:

¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to do service for the sake of them that shall inherit salvation?

²² And according to the law, I may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission. ²³ It was necessary therefore that the copies of the things in the heavens should be cleansed with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. ²⁴ For Christ entered not into a holy place made with hands, like in pattern to the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear before the face of God for us: ²⁵ nor yet that he should offer himself often; as the high priest entereth into the holy place year by year with blood not his own; ²⁶ else must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once at the end of the ages hath he been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

¹⁰ We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle.

³ And another angel came and stood over the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should add it unto the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. ⁴ And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, went up before God out of the angel’s hand. ⁵ And the angel taketh the censer; and he filled it with the fire of the altar, and cast it upon the earth: and there followed thunders, and voices, and lightnings, and an earthquake.
