¹ Now even the first [covenant] had ordinances of divine service, and its sanctuary, [a sanctuary] of this world. ² For there was a tabernacle prepared, the first, wherein [were] the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the Holy place. ³ And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holy of holies; ⁴ having a golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein [was] a golden pot holding the manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; ⁵ and above it cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy-seat; of which things we cannot now speak severally. ⁶ Now these things having been thus prepared, the priests go in continually into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the services; ⁷ but into the second the high priest alone, once in the year, not without blood, which he offereth for himself, and for the errors of the people: ⁸ the Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holy place hath not yet been made manifest, while as the first tabernacle is yet standing; ⁹ which [is] a parable for the time [now] present; according to which are offered both gifts and sacrifices that cannot, as touching the conscience, make the worshipper perfect, ¹⁰ [being] only (with meats and drinks and divers washings) carnal ordinances, imposed until a time of reformation. ¹¹ But Christ having come a high priest of the good things to come, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation, ¹² nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption. ¹³ For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling them that have been defiled, sanctify unto the cleanness of the flesh: ¹⁴ how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish unto God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? ¹⁵ And for this cause he is the mediator of a new covenant, that a death having taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, they that have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. ¹⁶ For where a testament is, there must of necessity be the death of him that made it. ¹⁷ For a testament is of force where there hath been death: for doth it ever avail while he that made it liveth? ¹⁸ Wherefore even the first [covenant] hath not been dedicated without blood. ¹⁹ For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses unto all the people according to the law, he took the blood of the calves and the goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself, and all the people, ²⁰ saying, This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded to you-ward. ²¹ Moreover the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry he sprinkled in like manner with the blood. ²² And according to the law, I may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission. ²³ It was necessary therefore that the copies of the things in the heavens should be cleansed with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. ²⁴ For Christ entered not into a holy place made with hands, like in pattern to the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear before the face of God for us: ²⁵ nor yet that he should offer himself often; as the high priest entereth into the holy place year by year with blood not his own; ²⁶ else must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once at the end of the ages hath he been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. ²⁷ And inasmuch as it is appointed unto men once to die, and after this [cometh] judgment; ²⁸ so Christ also, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, shall appear a second time, apart from sin, to them that wait for him, unto salvation.

⁸ And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.

³ After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their statutes. ⁴ My judgments shall ye do, and my statutes shall ye keep, to walk therein: I am the LORD your God.

³⁰ Therefore shall ye keep my charge, that ye do not any of these abominable customs, which were done before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God.

⁹ They shall therefore keep my charge, lest they bear sin for it, and die therein, if they profane it: I am the LORD which sanctify them.

¹² they shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break a bone thereof: according to all the statute of the passover they shall keep it.

¹¹ And if they be ashamed of all that they have done, make known unto them the form of the house, and the fashion thereof, and the goings out thereof, and the comings in thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the laws thereof, and write it in their sight: that they may keep the whole form thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and do them.

⁶ And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

⁸ Take heed lest there shall be any one that maketh spoil of you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ:

² a minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, not man.

⁷ For if that first [covenant] had been faultless, then would no place have been sought for a second.

¹³ In that he saith, A new [covenant], he hath made the first old. But that which is becoming old and waxeth aged is nigh unto vanishing away.

¹⁰ [being] only (with meats and drinks and divers washings) carnal ordinances, imposed until a time of reformation. ¹¹ But Christ having come a high priest of the good things to come, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation,

⁸ And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them. ⁹ According to all that I shew thee, the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the furniture thereof, even so shall ye make it.

²³ And thou shalt make a table of acacia wood: two cubits [shall be] the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof. ²⁴ And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, and make thereto a crown of gold round about. ²⁵ And thou shalt make unto it a border of an handbreadth round about, and thou shalt make a golden crown to the border thereof round about. ²⁶ And thou shalt make for it four rings of gold, and put the rings in the four corners that are on the four feet thereof. ²⁷ Close by the border shall the rings be, for places for the staves to bear the table. ²⁸ And thou shalt make the staves of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold, that the table may be borne with them. ²⁹ And thou shalt make the dishes thereof, and the spoons thereof, and the flagons thereof, and the bowls thereof, to pour out withal: of pure gold shalt thou make them. ³⁰ And thou shalt set upon the table shewbread before me alway.

²³ And two boards shalt thou make for the corners of the tabernacle in the hinder part. ²⁴ And they shall be double beneath, and in like manner they shall be entire unto the top thereof unto one ring: thus shall it be for them both; they shall be for the two corners. ²⁵ And there shall be eight boards, and their sockets of silver, sixteen sockets; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board. ²⁶ And thou shalt make bars of acacia wood; five for the boards of the one side of the tabernacle, ²⁷ and five bars for the boards of the other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards of the side of the tabernacle, for the hinder part westward. ²⁸ And the middle bar in the midst of the boards shall pass through from end to end. ²⁹ And thou shalt overlay the boards with gold, and make their rings of gold for places for the bars: and thou shalt overlay the bars with gold. ³⁰ And thou shalt rear up the tabernacle according to the fashion thereof which hath been shewed thee in the mount.

³³ And thou shalt hang up the veil under the clasps, and shalt bring in thither within the veil the ark of the testimony: and the veil shall divide unto you between the holy place and the most holy.

³⁵ And thou shalt set the table without the veil, and the candlestick over against the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south: and thou shalt put the table on the north side.

¹ And this is the thing that thou shalt do unto them to hallow them, to minister unto me in the priest’s office: take one young bullock and two rams without blemish,

³⁵ And thus shalt thou do unto Aaron, and to his sons, according to all that I have commanded thee: seven days shalt thou consecrate them.

⁸ And every wise hearted man among them that wrought the work made the tabernacle with ten curtains; of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, with cherubim the work of the cunning workman made he them. ⁹ The length of each curtain was eight and twenty cubits, and the breadth of each curtain four cubits: all the curtains had one measure. ¹⁰ And he coupled five curtains one to another: and [the other] five curtains he coupled one to another. ¹¹ And he made loops of blue upon the edge of the one curtain from the selvedge in the coupling: likewise he made in the edge of the curtain that was outmost in the second coupling. ¹² Fifty loops made he in the one curtain, and fifty loops made he in the edge of the curtain that was in the second coupling: the loops were opposite one to another. ¹³ And he made fifty clasps of gold, and coupled the curtains one to another with the clasps: so the tabernacle was one. ¹⁴ And he made curtains of goats’ [hair] for a tent over the tabernacle: eleven curtains he made them. ¹⁵ The length of each curtain was thirty cubits, and four cubits the breadth of each curtain: the eleven curtains had one measure. ¹⁶ And he coupled five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by themselves. ¹⁷ And he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that was outmost in the coupling, and fifty loops made he upon the edge of the curtain which was [outmost in] the second coupling. ¹⁸ And he made fifty clasps of brass to couple the tent together, that it might be one. ¹⁹ And he made a covering for the tent of rams’ skins dyed red, and a covering of sealskins above. ²⁰ And he made the boards for the tabernacle of acacia wood, standing up. ²¹ Ten cubits was the length of a board, and a cubit and a half the breadth of each board. ²² Each board had two tenons, joined one to another: thus did he make for all the boards of the tabernacle. ²³ And he made the boards for the tabernacle; twenty boards for the south side southward: ²⁴ and he made forty sockets of silver under the twenty boards; two sockets under one board for its two tenons, and two sockets under another board for its two tenons. ²⁵ And for the second side of the tabernacle, on the north side, he made twenty boards, ²⁶ and their forty sockets of silver; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board. ²⁷ And for the hinder part of the tabernacle westward he made six boards. ²⁸ And two boards made he for the corners of the tabernacle in the hinder part. ²⁹ And they were double beneath, and in like manner they were entire unto the top thereof unto one ring: thus he did to both of them in the two corners. ³⁰ And there were eight boards, and their sockets of silver, sixteen sockets; under every board two sockets. ³¹ And he made bars of acacia wood; five for the boards of the one side of the tabernacle, ³² and five bars for the boards of the other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards of the tabernacle for the hinder part westward. ³³ And he made the middle bar to pass through in the midst of the boards from the one end to the other. ³⁴ And he overlaid the boards with gold, and made their rings of gold for places for the bars, and overlaid the bars with gold. ³⁵ And he made the veil of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen: with cherubim the work of the cunning workman made he it. ³⁶ And he made thereunto four pillars of acacia, and overlaid them with gold: their hooks were of gold; and he cast for them four sockets of silver. ³⁷ And he made a screen for the door of the Tent, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, the work of the embroiderer; ³⁸ and the five pillars of it with their hooks: and he overlaid their chapiters and their fillets with gold: and their five sockets were of brass.

¹⁰ And he made the table of acacia wood: two cubits [was] the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof: ¹¹ and he overlaid it with pure gold, and made thereto a crown of gold round about. ¹² And he made unto it a border of an handbreadth round about, and made a golden crown to the border thereof round about. ¹³ And he cast for it four rings of gold, and put the rings in the four corners that were on the four feet thereof. ¹⁴ Close by the border were the rings, the places for the staves to bear the table. ¹⁵ And he made the staves of acacia wood, and overlaid them with gold, to bear the table. ¹⁶ And he made the vessels which were upon the table, the dishes thereof, and the spoons thereof, and the bowls thereof, and the flagons thereof, to pour out withal, of pure gold. ¹⁷ And he made the candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work made he the candlestick, even its base, and its shaft; its cups, its knops, and its flowers, were of one piece with it: ¹⁸ and there were six branches going out of the sides thereof; three branches of the candlestick out of the one side thereof, and three branches of the candlestick out of the other side thereof: ¹⁹ three cups made like almond-blossoms in one branch, a knop and a flower; and three cups made like almond-blossoms in the other branch, a knop and a flower: so for the six branches going out of the candlestick. ²⁰ And in the candlestick were four cups made like almond-blossoms, the knops thereof, and the flowers thereof: ²¹ and a knop under two branches of one piece with it, and a knop under two branches of one piece with it, and a knop under two branches of one piece with it, for the six branches going out of it. ²² Their knops and their branches were of one piece with it: the whole of it was one beaten work of pure gold. ²³ And he made the lamps thereof, seven, and the tongs thereof, and the snuffdishes thereof, of pure gold. ²⁴ Of a talent of pure gold made he it, and all the vessels thereof.

³² Thus was finished all the work of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting: and the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did they. ³³ And they brought the tabernacle unto Moses, the Tent, and all its furniture, its clasps, its boards, its bars, and its pillars, and its sockets; ³⁴ and the covering of rams’ skins dyed red, and the covering of sealskins, and the veil of the screen;

³⁶ the table, all the vessels thereof, and the shewbread; ³⁷ the pure candlestick, the lamps thereof, even the lamps to be set in order, and all the vessels thereof, and the oil for the light; ³⁸ and the golden altar, and the anointing oil, and the sweet incense, and the screen for the door of the Tent;

² On the first day of the first month shalt thou rear up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.

⁴ And thou shalt bring in the table, and set in order the things that are upon it; and thou shalt bring in the candlestick, and light the lamps thereof.

¹⁸ And Moses reared up the tabernacle, and laid its sockets, and set up the boards thereof, and put in the bars thereof, and reared up its pillars. ¹⁹ And he spread the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent above upon it; as the LORD commanded Moses. ²⁰ And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy-seat above upon the ark:

²² And he put the table in the tent of meeting, upon the side of the tabernacle northward, without the veil. ²³ And he set the bread in order upon it before the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses. ²⁴ And he put the candlestick in the tent of meeting, over against the table, on the side of the tabernacle southward.

⁵ And thou shalt take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes thereof: two tenth parts [of an ephah] shall be in one cake. ⁶ And thou shalt set them in two rows, six on a row, upon the pure table before the LORD. ⁷ And thou shalt put pure frankincense upon each row, that it may be to the bread for a memorial, even an offering made by fire unto the LORD. ⁸ Every sabbath day he shall set it in order before the LORD continually; it is on the behalf of the children of Israel, an everlasting covenant.

³¹ And thou shalt make a veil of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen: with cherubim the work of the cunning workman shall it be made: ³² and thou shalt hang it upon four pillars of acacia overlaid with gold, their hooks [shall be] of gold, upon four sockets of silver. ³³ And thou shalt hang up the veil under the clasps, and shalt bring in thither within the veil the ark of the testimony: and the veil shall divide unto you between the holy place and the most holy.

³ And thou shalt put therein the ark of the testimony, and thou shalt screen the ark with the veil.

²¹ and he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the veil of the screen, and screened the ark of the testimony; as the LORD commanded Moses.

⁶ And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto its place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubim.

¹⁴ And he made the veil of blue, and purple, and crimson, and fine linen, and wrought cherubim thereon.

⁷ And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering that is cast over all peoples, and the veil that is spread over all nations.

⁵¹ And behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake; and the rocks were rent;

¹⁹ which we have as an anchor of the soul, [a hope] both sure and stedfast and entering into that which is within the veil;

⁸ the Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holy place hath not yet been made manifest, while as the first tabernacle is yet standing;

¹⁹ Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus, ²⁰ by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

³² And Moses said, This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, Let an omerful of it be kept for your generations; that they may see the bread wherewith I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt. ³³ And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omerful of manna therein, and lay it up before the LORD, to be kept for your generations. ³⁴ As the LORD commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept.

¹⁰ And they shall make an ark of acacia wood: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof. ¹¹ And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, within and without shalt thou overlay it, and shalt make upon it a crown of gold round about. ¹² And thou shalt cast four rings of gold for it, and put them in the four feet thereof; and two rings shall be on the one side of it, and two rings on the other side of it. ¹³ And thou shalt make staves of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold. ¹⁴ And thou shalt put the staves into the rings on the sides of the ark, to bear the ark withal. ¹⁵ The staves shall be in the rings of the ark: they shall not be taken from it. ¹⁶ And thou shalt put into the ark the testimony which I shall give thee. ¹⁷ And thou shalt make a mercy-seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half [shall be] the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof. ¹⁸ And thou shalt make two cherubim of gold; of beaten work shalt thou make them, at the two ends of the mercy-seat. ¹⁹ And make one cherub at the one end, and one cherub at the other end: of one piece with the mercy-seat shall ye make the cherubim on the two ends thereof. ²⁰ And the cherubim shall spread out their wings on high, covering the mercy-seat with their wings, with their faces one to another; toward the mercy-seat shall the faces of the cherubim be. ²¹ And thou shalt put the mercy-seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. ²² And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy-seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.

¹ And thou shalt make an altar to burn incense upon: of acacia wood shalt thou make it. ² A cubit shall be the length thereof, and a cubit the breadth thereof; foursquare shall it be: and two cubits shall be the height thereof: the horns thereof shall be of one piece with it. ³ And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, the top thereof, and the sides thereof round about, and the horns thereof; and thou shalt make unto it a crown of gold round about. ⁴ And two golden rings shalt thou make for it under the crown thereof, upon the two ribs thereof, upon the two sides of it shalt thou make them; and they shall be for places for staves to bear it withal. ⁵ And thou shalt make the staves of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold.

²⁹ And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of the testimony in Moses’ hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone by reason of his speaking with him.

¹ And Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood: two cubits and a half was the length of it, and a cubit and a half the breadth of it, and a cubit and a half the height of it: ² and he overlaid it with pure gold within and without, and made a crown of gold to it round about. ³ And he cast for it four rings of gold, in the four feet thereof; even two rings on the one side of it, and two rings on the other side of it. ⁴ And he made staves of acacia wood, and overlaid them with gold. ⁵ And he put the staves into the rings on the sides of the ark, to bear the ark.

³⁵ the ark of the testimony, and the staves thereof, and the mercy-seat;

²⁰ And he took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy-seat above upon the ark: ²¹ and he brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the veil of the screen, and screened the ark of the testimony; as the LORD commanded Moses.

¹² and he shall take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil:

⁵ And it shall come to pass, that the man whom I shall choose, his rod shall bud: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against you.

⁸ And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses went into the tent of the testimony; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and put forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and bare ripe almonds.

¹⁰ And the LORD said unto Moses, Put back the rod of Aaron before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the children of rebellion; that thou mayest make an end of their murmurings against me, that they die not.

² And I will write on the tables the words that were on the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark. ³ So I made an ark of acacia wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand. ⁴ And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them unto me. ⁵ And I turned and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as the LORD commanded me.

⁵⁰ and the cups, and the snuffers, and basons, and the spoons, and the firepans, of pure gold; and the hinges, both for the doors of the inner house, the most holy place, and for the doors of the house, [to wit], of the temple, of gold.

⁹ There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.

²¹ And there have I set a place for the ark, wherein is the covenant of the LORD, which he made with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

¹⁰ There was nothing in the ark save the two tables which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.

² The LORD shall send forth the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. ³ Thy people offer themselves willingly in the day of thy power: in the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, thou hast the dew of thy youth.

³ And another angel came and stood over the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should add it unto the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

⁶ And he made a mercy-seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half [was] the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof. ⁷ And he made two cherubim of gold; of beaten work made he them, at the two ends of the mercy-seat; ⁸ one cherub at the one end, and one cherub at the other end: of one piece with the mercy-seat made he the cherubim at the two ends thereof. ⁹ And the cherubim spread out their wings on high, covering the mercy-seat with their wings, with their faces one to another; toward the mercy-seat were the faces of the cherubim.

² and the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the veil, before the mercy-seat which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy-seat.

¹³ and he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy-seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not:

⁸⁹ And when Moses went into the tent of meeting to speak with him, then he heard the Voice speaking unto him from above the mercy-seat that was upon the ark of the testimony, from between the two cherubim: and he spake unto him.

⁴ So the people sent to Shiloh, and they brought from thence the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which sitteth upon the cherubim: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.

⁶ And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto its place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubim. ⁷ For the cherubim spread forth their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and the staves thereof above.

¹⁵ And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD, the God of Israel, that sittest upon the cherubim, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.

¹¹ Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch [of the temple], and of the houses thereof, and of the treasuries thereof, and of the upper rooms thereof, and of the inner chambers thereof, and of the place of the mercy-seat:

¹ For the Chief Musician; set to Shoshannim Eduth. A Psalm of Asaph. Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that sittest upon the cherubim, shine forth.

¹ The LORD reigneth; let the peoples tremble: he sitteth upon the cherubim; let the earth be moved.

¹⁰ to the intent that now unto the principalities and the powers in the heavenly [places] might be made known through the church the manifold wisdom of God,

¹⁶ Let us therefore draw near with boldness unto the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace to help [us] in time of need.

¹² To whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto you, did they minister these things, which now have been announced unto you through them that preached the gospel unto you by the Holy Ghost sent forth from heaven; which things angels desire to look into.

²¹ In the tent of meeting, without the veil which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall order it from evening to morning before the LORD: it shall be a statute for ever throughout their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel.

⁷ And Aaron shall burn thereon incense of sweet spices: every morning, when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn it. ⁸ And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even, he shall burn it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations.

³ And thou shalt say unto them, This is the offering made by fire which ye shall offer unto the LORD; he-lambs of the first year without blemish, two day by day, for a continual burnt offering.

¹⁶ But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up so that he did corruptly, and he trespassed against the LORD his God; for he went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense. ¹⁷ And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of the LORD, that were valiant men: ¹⁸ and they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, It pertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thine honour from the LORD God. ¹⁹ Then Uzziah was wroth; and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense; and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy brake forth in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, beside the altar of incense.

¹¹ Yea, it magnified itself, even to the prince of the host; and it took away from him the continual [burnt offering], and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.

⁸ Now it came to pass, while he executed the priest’s office before God in the order of his course, ⁹ according to the custom of the priest’s office, his lot was to enter into the temple of the Lord and burn incense. ¹⁰ And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the hour of incense. ¹¹ And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

¹⁰ And Aaron shall make atonement upon the horns of it once in the year: with the blood of the sin offering of atonement once in the year shall he make atonement for it throughout your generations: it is most holy unto the LORD.

¹⁸ And he shall bring a ram without blemish out of the flock, according to thy estimation, for a guilt offering, unto the priest: and the priest shall make atonement for him concerning the thing wherein he erred unwittingly and knew it not, and he shall be forgiven.

² and the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the veil, before the mercy-seat which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy-seat. ³ Herewith shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering. ⁴ He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with the linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: they are the holy garments; and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and put them on. ⁵ And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two he-goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering. ⁶ And Aaron shall present the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself, and for his house. ⁷ And he shall take the two goats, and set them before the LORD at the door of the tent of meeting. ⁸ And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for Azazel. ⁹ And Aaron shall present the goat upon which the lot fell for the LORD, and offer him for a sin offering. ¹⁰ But the goat, on which the lot fell for Azazel, shall be set alive before the LORD, to make atonement for him, to send him away for Azazel into the wilderness. ¹¹ And Aaron shall present the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself: ¹² and he shall take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil: ¹³ and he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy-seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not: ¹⁴ and he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy-seat on the east; and before the mercy-seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times. ¹⁵ Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with his blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy-seat, and before the mercy-seat: ¹⁶ and he shall make atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleannesses of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, even all their sins: and so shall he do for the tent of meeting, that dwelleth with them in the midst of their uncleannesses. ¹⁷ And there shall be no man in the tent of meeting when he goeth in to make atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel. ¹⁸ And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD, and make atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about. ¹⁹ And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleannesses of the children of Israel. ²⁰ And when he hath made an end of atoning for the holy place, and the tent of meeting, and the altar, he shall present the live goat:

³⁴ And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make atonement for the children of Israel because of all their sins once in the year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.

⁷ And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.

⁹ And Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, so that they did evil more than did the nations, whom the LORD destroyed before the children of Israel.

¹² Who can discern [his] errors? clear thou me from hidden [faults].

¹⁰ Forty years long was I grieved with [that] generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:

¹² As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.

¹⁶ For they that lead this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.

⁷ But these also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are gone astray; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are gone astray through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

¹⁴ therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder: and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

¹² My people ask counsel at their stock, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredom hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.

¹⁴ And flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself:

² who can bear gently with the ignorant and erring, for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity; ³ and by reason thereof is bound, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.

²⁷ who needeth not daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for his own sins, and then for the [sins] of the people: for this he did once for all, when he offered up himself.

²⁴ For Christ entered not into a holy place made with hands, like in pattern to the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear before the face of God for us: ²⁵ nor yet that he should offer himself often; as the high priest entereth into the holy place year by year with blood not his own;

³ But in those [sacrifices] there is a remembrance made of sins year by year.

¹¹ Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, [and] his people, [saying], Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? where is he that put his holy spirit in the midst of them?

⁷ Jesus therefore said unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.

⁹ I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and go out, and shall find pasture.

⁶ Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me.

⁵¹ Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. ⁵² Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? and they killed them which shewed before of the coming of the Righteous One; of whom ye have now become betrayers and murderers;

²⁵ And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Isaiah the prophet unto your fathers,

⁸ And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand unto Abraham, [saying], In thee shall all the nations be blessed.

¹⁸ for through him we both have our access in one Spirit unto the Father.

⁷ Wherefore, even as the Holy Ghost saith, Today if ye shall hear his voice,

¹⁵ For we have not a high priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but one that hath been in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin. ¹⁶ Let us therefore draw near with boldness unto the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace to help [us] in time of need.

³ And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holy of holies;

¹⁵ And the Holy Ghost also beareth witness to us: for after he hath said,

¹⁹ Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus, ²⁰ by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; ²¹ and [having] a great priest over the house of God; ²² let us draw near with a true heart in fulness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our body washed with pure water:

²¹ For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but men spake from God, being moved by the Holy Ghost.

⁶ Sacrifice and offering thou hast no delight in; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. ⁷ Then said I, Lo, I am come; in the roll of the book it is written of me:

¹⁶ For thou delightest not in sacrifice; else would I give it: thou hast no pleasure in burnt offering. ¹⁷ The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. ¹⁸ Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem. ¹⁹ Then shalt thou delight in the sacrifices of righteousness, in burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.

¹⁴ Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the likeness of Adam’s transgression, who is a figure of him that was to come.

²¹ Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could make alive, verily righteousness would have been of the law.

¹ For every high priest, being taken from among men, is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:

¹¹ Now if there was perfection through the Levitical priesthood (for under it hath the people received the law), what further need [was there] that another priest should arise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be reckoned after the order of Aaron?

¹⁸ For there is a disannulling of a foregoing commandment because of its weakness and unprofitableness ¹⁹ (for the law made nothing perfect), and a bringing in thereupon of a better hope, through which we draw nigh unto God.

¹³ For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling them that have been defiled, sanctify unto the cleanness of the flesh: ¹⁴ how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish unto God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

²⁴ For Christ entered not into a holy place made with hands, like in pattern to the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear before the face of God for us:

¹ For the law having a shadow of the good [things] to come, not the very image of the things, they can never with the same sacrifices year by year, which they offer continually, make perfect them that draw nigh. ² Else would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshippers, having been once cleansed, would have had no more conscience of sins? ³ But in those [sacrifices] there is a remembrance made of sins year by year. ⁴ For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.

¹¹ And every priest indeed standeth day by day ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, the which can never take away sins:

¹⁹ accounting that God [is] able to raise up, even from the dead; from whence he did also in a parable receive him back.

³⁹ And these all, having had witness borne to them through their faith, received not the promise, ⁴⁰ God having provided some better thing concerning us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.

¹¹ searching what [time] or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did point unto, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that should follow them. ¹² To whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto you, did they minister these things, which now have been announced unto you through them that preached the gospel unto you by the Holy Ghost sent forth from heaven; which things angels desire to look into.

²¹ which also after a true likeness doth now save you, [even] baptism, not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the interrogation of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ;

⁴ And Aaron and his sons thou shalt bring unto the door of the tent of meeting, and shalt wash them with water.

¹⁹ And Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet thereat: ²⁰ when they go into the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water, that they die not; or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn an offering made by fire unto the LORD: ²¹ so they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they die not: and it shall be a statute for ever to them, even to him and to his seed throughout their generations.

¹² And thou shalt bring Aaron and his sons unto the door of the tent of meeting, and shalt wash them with water.

² Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the living things which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth. ³ Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, [and] cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat. ⁴ Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that part the hoof: the camel, because he cheweth the cud but parteth not the hoof, he is unclean unto you. ⁵ And the coney, because he cheweth the cud but parteth not the hoof, he is unclean unto you. ⁶ And the hare, because she cheweth the cud but parteth not the hoof, she is unclean unto you. ⁷ And the swine, because he parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, but cheweth not the cud, he is unclean unto you. ⁸ Of their flesh ye shall not eat, and their carcases ye shall not touch; they are unclean unto you. ⁹ These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat. ¹⁰ And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of all the living creatures that are in the waters, they are an abomination unto you, ¹¹ and they shall be an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, and their carcases ye shall have in abomination. ¹² Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that is an abomination unto you. ¹³ And these ye shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the gier eagle, and the ospray; ¹⁴ and the kite, and the falcon after its kind; ¹⁵ every raven after its kind; ¹⁶ and the ostrich, and the night hawk, and the seamew, and the hawk after its kind; ¹⁷ and the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl; ¹⁸ and the horned owl, and the pelican, and the vulture; ¹⁹ and the stork, the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat. ²⁰ All winged creeping things that go upon all four are an abomination unto you. ²¹ Yet these may ye eat of all winged creeping things that go upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth; ²² even these of them ye may eat; the locust after its kind, and the bald locust after its kind, and the cricket after its kind, and the grasshopper after its kind. ²³ But all winged creeping things, which have four feet, are an abomination unto you. ²⁴ And by these ye shall become unclean: whosoever toucheth the carcase of them shall be unclean until the even: ²⁵ And whosoever beareth [aught] of the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even. ²⁶ Every beast which parteth the hoof, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the cud, is unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean. ²⁷ And whatsoever goeth upon its paws, among all beasts that go on all four, they are unclean unto you: whoso toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even. ²⁸ And he that beareth the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: they are unclean unto you. ²⁹ And these are they which are unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth; the weasel, and the mouse, and the great lizard after its kind, ³⁰ and the gecko, and the land-crocodile, and the lizard, and the sand-lizard, and the chameleon. ³¹ These are they which are unclean to you among all that creep: whosoever doth touch them, when they are dead, shall be unclean until the even. ³² And upon whatsoever any of them, when they are dead, doth fall, it shall be unclean; whether it be any vessel of wood, or raiment, or skin, or sack, whatsoever vessel it be, wherewith any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the even; then shall it be clean. ³³ And every earthen vessel, whereinto any of them falleth, whatsoever is in it shall be unclean, and it ye shall break. ³⁴ All food [therein] which may be eaten, that on which water cometh, shall be unclean: and all drink that may be drunk in every [such] vessel shall be unclean. ³⁵ And every thing whereupon [any part] of their carcase falleth shall be unclean; whether oven, or range for pots, it shall be broken in pieces: they are unclean, and shall be unclean unto you. ³⁶ Nevertheless a fountain or a pit wherein is a gathering of water shall be clean: but that which toucheth their carcase shall be unclean. ³⁷ And if [aught] of their carcase fall upon any sowing seed which is to be sown, it is clean. ³⁸ But if water be put upon the seed, and [aught] of their carcase fall thereon, it is unclean unto you. ³⁹ And if any beast, of which ye may eat, die; he that toucheth the carcase thereof shall be unclean until the even. ⁴⁰ And he that eateth of the carcase of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: he also that beareth the carcase of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even. ⁴¹ And every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth is an abomination; it shall not be eaten. ⁴² Whatsoever goeth upon the belly, and whatsoever goeth upon all four, or whatsoever hath many feet, even all creeping things that creep upon the earth, them ye shall not eat; for they are an abomination. ⁴³ Ye shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby. ⁴⁴ For I am the LORD your God: sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that moveth upon the earth. ⁴⁵ For I am the LORD that brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy. ⁴⁶ This is the law of the beast, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth: ⁴⁷ to make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the living thing that may be eaten and the living thing that may not be eaten.

⁸ And he that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and shave off all his hair, and bathe himself in water, and he shall be clean: and after that he shall come into the camp, but shall dwell outside his tent seven days. ⁹ And it shall be on the seventh day, that he shall shave all his hair off his head and his beard and his eyebrows, even all his hair he shall shave off: and he shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and he shall be clean.

⁴ He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with the linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: they are the holy garments; and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and put them on.

²⁴ and he shall bathe his flesh in water in a holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, and make atonement for himself and for the people.

¹⁵ And every soul that eateth that which dieth of itself, or that which is torn of beasts, whether he be homeborn or a stranger, he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even: then shall he be clean. ¹⁶ But if he wash them not, nor bathe his flesh, then he shall bear his iniquity.

⁶ the soul which toucheth any such shall be unclean until the even, and shall not eat of the holy things, unless he bathe his flesh in water.

⁷ Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the even. ⁸ And he that burneth her shall wash his clothes in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the even. ⁹ And a man that is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and lay them up without the camp in a clean place, and it shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel for a water of separation: it is a sin offering. ¹⁰ And he that gathereth the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: and it shall be unto the children of Israel, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among them, for a statute for ever. ¹¹ He that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days: ¹² the same shall purify himself therewith on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean: but if he purify not himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean. ¹³ Whosoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water of separation was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him. ¹⁴ This is the law when a man dieth in a tent: every one that cometh into the tent, and every one that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days. ¹⁵ And every open vessel, which hath no covering bound upon it, is unclean. ¹⁶ And whosoever in the open field toucheth one that is slain with a sword, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days. ¹⁷ And for the unclean they shall take of the ashes of the burning of the sin offering, and running water shall be put thereto in a vessel: ¹⁸ and a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched the bone, or the slain, or the dead, or the grave: ¹⁹ and the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh day he shall purify him; and he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even. ²⁰ But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from the midst of the assembly, because he hath defiled the sanctuary of the LORD: the water of separation hath not been sprinkled upon him; he is unclean. ²¹ And it shall be a perpetual statute unto them: and he that sprinkleth the water of separation shall wash his clothes; and he that toucheth the water of separation shall be unclean until even.

³ Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing. ⁴ These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat, ⁵ the hart, and the gazelle, and the roebuck, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the antelope, and the chamois. ⁶ And every beast that parteth the hoof, and hath the hoof cloven in two, [and] cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that ye shall eat. ⁷ Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that have the hoof cloven: the camel, and the hare, and the coney, because they chew the cud but part not the hoof, they are unclean unto you: ⁸ and the swine, because he parteth the hoof but cheweth not the cud, he is unclean unto you: of their flesh ye shall not eat, and their carcases ye shall not touch. ⁹ These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales shall ye eat: ¹⁰ and whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye shall not eat; it is unclean unto you. ¹¹ Of all clean birds ye may eat. ¹² But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the gier eagle, and the ospray; ¹³ and the glede, and the falcon, and the kite after its kind; ¹⁴ and every raven after its kind; ¹⁵ and the ostrich, and the night hawk, and the seamew, and the hawk after its kind; ¹⁶ the little owl, and the great owl, and the horned owl; ¹⁷ and the pelican, and the vulture, and the cormorant; ¹⁸ and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat. ¹⁹ And all winged creeping things are unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten. ²⁰ Of all clean fowls ye may eat. ²¹ Ye shall not eat of any thing that dieth of itself: thou mayest give it unto the stranger that is within thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto a foreigner: for thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in its mother’s milk.

⁶ and all the elders of that city, who are nearest unto the slain man, shall wash their hands over the heifer whose neck was broken in the valley:

¹¹ but it shall be, when evening cometh on, he shall bathe himself in water: and when the sun is down, he shall come within the camp.

¹⁴ Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! behold, my soul hath not been polluted: for from my youth up even till now have I not eaten of that which dieth of itself, or is torn of beasts; neither came there abominable flesh into my mouth;

⁴ and [when they come] from the marketplace, except they wash themselves, they eat not: and many other things there be, which they have received to hold, washings of cups, and pots, and brasen vessels.

¹³ And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill and eat. ¹⁴ But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common and unclean. ¹⁵ And a voice [came] unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, make not thou common.

³ So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the rudiments of the world: ⁴ but when the fulness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

⁹ but now that ye have come to know God, or rather to be known of God, how turn ye back again to the weak and beggarly rudiments, whereunto ye desire to be in bondage over again?

¹⁰ unto a dispensation of the fulness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens, and the things upon the earth; in him, [I say],

¹⁵ having abolished in his flesh the enmity, [even] the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances; that he might create in himself of the twain one new man, [so] making peace; ¹⁶ Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a feast day or a new moon or a sabbath day:

²⁰ If ye died with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, do ye subject yourselves to ordinances, ²¹ Handle not, nor taste, nor touch ²² (all which things are to perish with the using), after the precepts and doctrines of men?

⁵ For not unto angels did he subject the world to come, whereof we speak.

² of the teaching of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

⁵ and tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the age to come,

¹⁶ who hath been made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life:

¹ Now even the first [covenant] had ordinances of divine service, and its sanctuary, [a sanctuary] of this world.

²² let us draw near with a true heart in fulness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our body washed with pure water:

⁹ Be not carried away by divers and strange teachings: for it is good that the heart be stablished by grace; not by meats, wherein they that occupied themselves were not profited.

¹⁰ The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh come; And unto him shall the obedience of the peoples be.

⁷ Then said I, Lo, I am come; in the roll of the book it is written of me:

²⁰ And a redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.

¹ Behold, I send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in, behold, he cometh, saith the LORD of hosts.

⁶ And thou Bethlehem, land of Judah, Art in no wise least among the princes of Judah: For out of thee shall come forth a governor, Which shall be shepherd of my people Israel.

³ and said unto him, Art thou he that cometh, or look we for another?

⁵⁸ We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.

¹⁴ And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth.

²⁵ The woman saith unto him, I know that Messiah cometh (which is called Christ): when he is come, he will declare unto us all things.

⁴⁸ Howbeit the Most High dwelleth not in [houses] made with hands; as saith the prophet,

²⁴ The God that made the world and all things therein, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; ²⁵ neither is he served by men’s hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

¹ For we know that if the earthly house of our tabernacle be dissolved, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal, in the heavens.

¹¹ in whom ye were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ;

¹⁷ Wherefore it behoved him in all things to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

¹ Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, [even] Jesus;

¹⁵ For we have not a high priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but one that hath been in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin.

⁵ So Christ also glorified not himself to be made a high priest, but he that spake unto him, Thou art my Son, This day have I begotten thee: ⁶ as he saith also in another [place], Thou art a priest for ever After the order of Melchizedek.

¹ For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him,

¹¹ Now if there was perfection through the Levitical priesthood (for under it hath the people received the law), what further need [was there] that another priest should arise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be reckoned after the order of Aaron? ¹² For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. ¹³ For he of whom these things are said belongeth to another tribe, from which no man hath given attendance at the altar. ¹⁴ For it is evident that our Lord hath sprung out of Judah; as to which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priests. ¹⁵ And [what we say] is yet more abundantly evident, if after the likeness of Melchizedek there ariseth another priest, ¹⁶ who hath been made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life: ¹⁷ for it is witnessed [of him], Thou art a priest for ever After the order of Melchizedek. ¹⁸ For there is a disannulling of a foregoing commandment because of its weakness and unprofitableness ¹⁹ (for the law made nothing perfect), and a bringing in thereupon of a better hope, through which we draw nigh unto God. ²⁰ And inasmuch as [it is] not without the taking of an oath ²¹ (for they indeed have been made priests without an oath; but he with an oath by him that saith of him, The Lord sware and will not repent himself, Thou art a priest for ever); ²² by so much also hath Jesus become the surety of a better covenant. ²³ And they indeed have been made priests many in number, because that by death they are hindered from continuing: ²⁴ but he, because he abideth for ever, hath his priesthood unchangeable. ²⁵ Wherefore also he is able to save to the uttermost them that draw near unto God through him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. ²⁶ For such a high priest became us, holy, guileless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; ²⁷ who needeth not daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for his own sins, and then for the [sins] of the people: for this he did once for all, when he offered up himself.

¹ Now in the things which we are saying the chief point [is this]: We have such a high priest, who sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, ² a minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, not man.

¹ Now even the first [covenant] had ordinances of divine service, and its sanctuary, [a sanctuary] of this world. ² For there was a tabernacle prepared, the first, wherein [were] the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the Holy place. ³ And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holy of holies; ⁴ having a golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein [was] a golden pot holding the manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; ⁵ and above it cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy-seat; of which things we cannot now speak severally. ⁶ Now these things having been thus prepared, the priests go in continually into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the services; ⁷ but into the second the high priest alone, once in the year, not without blood, which he offereth for himself, and for the errors of the people: ⁸ the Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holy place hath not yet been made manifest, while as the first tabernacle is yet standing; ⁹ which [is] a parable for the time [now] present; according to which are offered both gifts and sacrifices that cannot, as touching the conscience, make the worshipper perfect,

²³ It was necessary therefore that the copies of the things in the heavens should be cleansed with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. ²⁴ For Christ entered not into a holy place made with hands, like in pattern to the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear before the face of God for us:

¹ For the law having a shadow of the good [things] to come, not the very image of the things, they can never with the same sacrifices year by year, which they offer continually, make perfect them that draw nigh.

² Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: every spirit which confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: ³ and every spirit which confesseth not Jesus is not of God: and this is the [spirit] of the antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it cometh; and now it is in the world already.

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, [even] in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

⁷ For many deceivers are gone forth into the world, [even] they that confess not that Jesus Christ cometh in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.

² Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments, and the anointing oil, and the bullock of the sin offering, and the two rams, and the basket of unleavened bread;

¹⁵ And he presented the people’s oblation, and took the goat of the sin offering which was for the people, and slew it, and offered it for sin, as the first.

⁵ And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two he-goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering. ⁶ And Aaron shall present the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself, and for his house. ⁷ And he shall take the two goats, and set them before the LORD at the door of the tent of meeting. ⁸ And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for Azazel. ⁹ And Aaron shall present the goat upon which the lot fell for the LORD, and offer him for a sin offering. ¹⁰ But the goat, on which the lot fell for Azazel, shall be set alive before the LORD, to make atonement for him, to send him away for Azazel into the wilderness.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are decreed upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy.

⁹ For behold, the stone that I have set before Joshua; upon one stone are seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

²⁹ but whosoever shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit hath never forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin:

²⁸ Take heed unto yourselves, and to all the flock, in the which the Holy Ghost hath made you bishops, to feed the church of God, which he purchased with his own blood.

¹³ Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: ¹⁴ that upon the Gentiles might come the blessing of Abraham in Christ Jesus; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

⁷ in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

¹⁴ in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins:

¹⁰ and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, [even] Jesus, which delivereth us from the wrath to come.

¹⁴ who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a people for his own possession, zealous of good works.

³ who being the effulgence of his glory, and the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had made purification of sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

⁹ and having been made perfect, he became unto all them that obey him the author of eternal salvation;

⁷ but into the second the high priest alone, once in the year, not without blood, which he offereth for himself, and for the errors of the people:

¹³ For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling them that have been defiled, sanctify unto the cleanness of the flesh:

¹⁵ And for this cause he is the mediator of a new covenant, that a death having taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, they that have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

²⁴ For Christ entered not into a holy place made with hands, like in pattern to the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear before the face of God for us: ²⁵ nor yet that he should offer himself often; as the high priest entereth into the holy place year by year with blood not his own; ²⁶ else must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once at the end of the ages hath he been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

²⁸ so Christ also, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, shall appear a second time, apart from sin, to them that wait for him, unto salvation.

⁴ For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.

⁹ then hath he said, Lo, I am come to do thy will. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. ¹⁰ By which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. ¹¹ And every priest indeed standeth day by day ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, the which can never take away sins: ¹² but he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; ¹³ from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made the footstool of his feet. ¹⁴ For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

¹⁹ Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus,

¹⁸ knowing that ye were redeemed, not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers; ¹⁹ but with precious blood, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, [even the blood] of Christ:

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, [who is] the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loveth us, and loosed us from our sins by his blood;

⁹ And they sing a new song, saying, Worthy art thou to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and didst purchase unto God with thy blood [men] of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation,

¹⁴ and he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy-seat on the east; and before the mercy-seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times. ¹⁵ Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with his blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy-seat, and before the mercy-seat: ¹⁶ and he shall make atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleannesses of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, even all their sins: and so shall he do for the tent of meeting, that dwelleth with them in the midst of their uncleannesses.

⁷ And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: sprinkle the water of expiation upon them, and let them cause a razor to pass over all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and cleanse themselves.

² This is the statute of the law which the LORD hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, [and] upon which never came yoke: ³ and ye shall give her unto Eleazar the priest, and he shall bring her forth without the camp, and one shall slay her before his face: ⁴ and Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and sprinkle of her blood toward the front of the tent of meeting seven times: ⁵ and one shall burn the heifer in his sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, with her dung, shall he burn: ⁶ and the priest shall take cedar wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer.

¹⁹ that setteth his heart to seek God, the LORD, the God of his fathers, though [he be] not [cleansed] according to the purification of the sanctuary.

⁷ Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

⁹ and he made no distinction between us and them, cleansing their hearts by faith.

²² Seeing ye have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth unto unfeigned love of the brethren, love one another from the heart fervently:

²⁰ But whatsoever hath a blemish, that shall ye not offer: for it shall not be acceptable for you.

⁹ And on the sabbath day two he-lambs of the first year without blemish, and two tenth parts [of an ephah] of fine flour for a meal offering, mingled with oil, and the drink offering thereof:

¹¹ And in the beginnings of your months ye shall offer a burnt offering unto the LORD; two young bullocks, and one ram, seven he-lambs of the first year without blemish;

²⁶ For who is there of all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?

²¹ And if it have any blemish, [as if it be] lame or blind, any ill blemish whatsoever, thou shalt not sacrifice it unto the LORD thy God.

¹ Thou shalt not sacrifice unto the LORD thy God an ox, or a sheep, wherein is a blemish, [or] any evil-favouredness: for that is an abomination unto the LORD thy God.

²⁷ For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?

²⁷ The eternal God is [thy] dwelling place, And underneath are the everlasting arms: And he thrust out the enemy from before thee, And said, Destroy.

²⁶ And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?

¹¹ How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed, shall I not now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?

¹⁶ Incline thine ear, O LORD, and hear; open thine eyes, O LORD, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, wherewith he hath sent him to reproach the living God.

¹⁶ How much less one that is abominable and corrupt, a man that drinketh iniquity like water!

¹ Behold my servant, whom I uphold; my chosen, in whom my soul delighteth: I have put my spirit upon him; he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

⁹ And they made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; although he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his month.

¹⁵ For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

¹ The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening [of the prison] to them that are bound;

¹⁰ But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth trembleth, and the nations are not able to abide his indignation.

²⁶ I make a decree, that in all the dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end:

²⁴ Seventy weeks are decreed upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy. ²⁵ Know therefore and discern, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the anointed one, the prince, shall be seven weeks: and threescore and two weeks, it shall be built again, with street and moat, even in troublous times. ²⁶ And after the threescore and two weeks shall the anointed one be cut off, and shall have nothing: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and his end shall be with a flood, and even unto the end shall be war; desolations are determined.

¹¹ If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

²⁸ But if I by the Spirit of God cast out devils, then is the kingdom of God come upon you.

²⁸ even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

⁷⁴ To grant unto us that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies Should serve him without fear,

¹⁸ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, Because he anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor: He hath sent me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovering of sight to the blind, To set at liberty them that are bruised,

²⁴ Consider the ravens, that they sow not, neither reap; which have no store-chamber nor barn; and God feedeth them: of how much more value are ye than the birds!

²⁸ But if God doth so clothe the grass in the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more [shall he clothe] you, O ye of little faith?

³⁴ For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for he giveth not the Spirit by measure.

² until the day in which he was received up, after that he had given commandment through the Holy Ghost unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

³⁸ [even] Jesus of Nazareth, how that God anointed him with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

¹⁵ and saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and bring you good tidings, that ye should turn from these vain things unto the living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that in them is:

⁴ who was declared [to be] the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection of the dead; [even] Jesus Christ our Lord,

²⁰ For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, [even] his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse:

¹³ neither present your members unto sin [as] instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves unto God, as alive from the dead, and your members [as] instruments of righteousness unto God.

²² But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end eternal life.

¹² Now if their fall is the riches of the world, and their loss the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?

²⁴ For if thou wast cut out of that which is by nature a wild olive tree, and wast grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which are the natural [branches], be grafted into their own olive tree?

²¹ Him who knew no sin he made [to be] sin on our behalf; that we might become the righteousness of God in him.

¹⁶ And what agreement hath a temple of God with idols? for we are a temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

¹⁹ For I through the law died unto the law, that I might live unto God.

⁵ even when we were dead through our trespasses, quickened us together with Christ (by grace have ye been saved),

² and walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for an odour of a sweet smell.

⁹ For they themselves report concerning us what manner of entering in we had unto you; and how ye turned unto God from idols, to serve a living and true God,

¹⁷ Now unto the King eternal, incorruptible, invisible, the only God, [be] honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

¹⁵ but if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how men ought to behave themselves in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

¹ Wherefore let us cease to speak of the first principles of Christ, and press on unto perfection; not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

⁹ which [is] a parable for the time [now] present; according to which are offered both gifts and sacrifices that cannot, as touching the conscience, make the worshipper perfect,

¹² nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption.

² Else would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshippers, having been once cleansed, would have had no more conscience of sins?

²¹ By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, [leaning] upon the top of his staff.

¹⁹ but with precious blood, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, [even the blood] of Christ:

²² who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

²⁴ who his own self bare our sins in his body upon the tree, that we, having died unto sins, might live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed.

¹⁸ Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God; being put to death in the flesh, but quickened in the spirit;

² that ye no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

⁷ but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

⁵ And ye know that he was manifested to take away sins; and in him is no sin.

¹⁸ The LORD knoweth the days of the perfect: and their inheritance shall be for ever.

¹⁰ Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see [his] seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. ¹¹ He shall see of the travail of his soul, [and] shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many: and he shall bear their iniquities. ¹² Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he poured out his soul unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors: yet he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

²⁶ And after the threescore and two weeks shall the anointed one be cut off, and shall have nothing: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and his end shall be with a flood, and even unto the end shall be war; desolations are determined.

²⁹ And every one that hath left houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit eternal life.

³⁴ Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

³⁶ naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

¹⁷ And as he was going forth into the way, there ran one to him, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?

¹⁸ And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

²⁸ and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.

²⁴ being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: ²⁵ whom God set forth [to be] a propitiation, through faith, by his blood, to shew his righteousness, because of the passing over of the sins done aforetime, in the forbearance of God; ²⁶ for the shewing, [I say], of his righteousness at this present season: that he might himself be just, and the justifier of him that hath faith in Jesus.

⁶ For while we were yet weak, in due season Christ died for the ungodly.

⁸ But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

¹⁰ For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved by his life;

²³ For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

²⁸ And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, [even] to them that are called according to [his] purpose.

³⁰ and whom he foreordained, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

²⁴ [even] us, whom he also called, not from the Jews only, but also from the Gentiles?

⁶ who also made us sufficient as ministers of a new covenant; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

¹⁴ whereunto he called you through our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁵ For there is one God, one mediator also between God and men, [himself] man, Christ Jesus,

¹⁰ Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

² in hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before times eternal;

⁷ that, being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

¹⁴ Since then the children are sharers in flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner partook of the same; that through death he might bring to nought him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

¹³ For when God made promise to Abraham, since he could swear by none greater, he sware by himself,

²² by so much also hath Jesus become the surety of a better covenant.

⁶ But now hath he obtained a ministry the more excellent, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which hath been enacted upon better promises. ⁷ For if that first [covenant] had been faultless, then would no place have been sought for a second. ⁸ For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, That I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;

¹³ In that he saith, A new [covenant], he hath made the first old. But that which is becoming old and waxeth aged is nigh unto vanishing away.

¹⁶ For where a testament is, there must of necessity be the death of him that made it.

³⁶ For ye have need of patience, that, having done the will of God, ye may receive the promise.

¹³ These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

²⁴ and to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaketh better than [that of] Abel.

²⁰ Now the God of peace, who brought again from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep with the blood of the eternal covenant, [even] our Lord Jesus,

¹² Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he hath been approved, he shall receive the crown of life, which [the Lord] promised to them that love him.

³ Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy begat us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, ⁴ unto an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

¹⁰ And the God of all grace, who called you unto his eternal glory in Christ, after that ye have suffered a little while, shall himself perfect, stablish, strengthen you.

²⁵ And this is the promise which he promised us, [even] the life eternal.

³ and they sing as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four living creatures and the elders: and no man could learn the song save the hundred and forty and four thousand, [even] they that had been purchased out of the earth. ⁴ These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These [are] they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were purchased from among men, [to be] the firstfruits unto God and unto the Lamb.

²¹ And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.

²⁷ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

¹⁵ Brethren, I speak after the manner of men: Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet when it hath been confirmed, no one maketh it void, or addeth thereto.

²² And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out of the door of his house until the morning.

³ And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the LORD hath spoken will we do. ⁴ And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the mount, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. ⁵ And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the LORD. ⁶ And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. ⁷ And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath spoken will we do, and be obedient. ⁸ And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.

⁷ For if that first [covenant] had been faultless, then would no place have been sought for a second. ⁸ For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, That I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah; ⁹ Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers In the day that I took them by the hand to lead them forth out of the land of Egypt; For they continued not in my covenant, And I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

¹⁴ how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish unto God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

²² And according to the law, I may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission.

⁵ And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the LORD. ⁶ And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. ⁷ And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath spoken will we do, and be obedient. ⁸ And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words. ⁹ Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel: ¹⁰ and they saw the God of Israel; and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and as it were the very heaven for clearness. ¹¹ And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: and they beheld God, and did eat and drink.

² Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When any man of you offereth an oblation unto the LORD, ye shall offer your oblation of the cattle, [even] of the herd and of the flock. ³ If his oblation be a burnt offering of the herd, he shall offer it a male without blemish: he shall offer it at the door of the tent of meeting, that he may be accepted before the LORD.

¹⁰ And if his oblation be of the flock, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt offering; he shall offer it a male without blemish.

⁶ And if his oblation for a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD be of the flock; male or female, he shall offer it without blemish.

⁴ then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two living clean birds, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop: ⁵ And the priest shall command to kill one of the birds in an earthen vessel over running water: ⁶ as for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water: ⁷ And he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let go the living bird into the open field.

⁴⁹ And he shall take to cleanse the house two birds, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop: ⁵⁰ and he shall kill one of the birds in an earthen vessel over running water: ⁵¹ and he shall take the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet, and the living bird, and dip them in the blood of the slain bird, and in the running water, and sprinkle the house seven times: ⁵² and he shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird, and with the running water, and with the living bird, and with the cedar wood, and with the hyssop, and with the scarlet:

¹⁴ and he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy-seat on the east; and before the mercy-seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times. ¹⁵ Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with his blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy-seat, and before the mercy-seat: ¹⁶ and he shall make atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleannesses of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, even all their sins: and so shall he do for the tent of meeting, that dwelleth with them in the midst of their uncleannesses. ¹⁷ And there shall be no man in the tent of meeting when he goeth in to make atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel. ¹⁸ And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD, and make atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about.

⁶ and the priest shall take cedar wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer.

¹⁸ and a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched the bone, or the slain, or the dead, or the grave:

¹⁵ so shall he sprinkle many nations; kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they understand.

²⁵ And I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

²⁸ And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.

¹⁷ And they clothe him with purple, and plaiting a crown of thorns, they put it on him;

²⁰ And when they had mocked him, they took off from him the purple, and put on him his garments. And they lead him out to crucify him.

² And the soldiers plaited a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and arrayed him in a purple garment;

⁵ Jesus therefore came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple garment. And [Pilate] saith unto them, Behold, the man!

² according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.

⁸ And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.

¹² that thou shouldest enter into the covenant of the LORD thy God, and into his oath, which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day:

⁶ And they went to Joshua unto the camp at Gilgal, and said unto him, and to the men of Israel, We are come from a far country: now therefore make ye a covenant with us.

¹¹ As for thee also, because of the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.

²⁸ for this is my blood of the covenant, which is shed for many unto remission of sins.

¹² And thou shalt take of the blood of the bullock, and put it upon the horns of the altar with thy finger; and thou shalt pour out all the blood at the base of the altar.

²⁰ Then shalt thou kill the ram, and take of its blood, and put it upon the tip of the right ear of Aaron, and upon the tip of the right ear of his sons, and upon the thumb of their right hand, and upon the great toe of their right foot, and sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about.

³⁶ And every day shalt thou offer the bullock of sin offering for atonement: and thou shalt cleanse the altar, when thou makest atonement for it; and thou shalt anoint it, to sanctify it.

¹⁵ And he slew it; and Moses took the blood, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about with his finger, and purified the altar, and poured out the blood at the base of the altar, and sanctified it, to make atonement for it.

¹⁹ And he killed it: and Moses sprinkled the blood upon the altar round about.

⁸ So Aaron drew near unto the altar, and slew the calf of the sin offering, which was for himself. ⁹ And the sons of Aaron presented the blood unto him: and he dipped his finger in the blood, and put it upon the horns of the altar, and poured out the blood at the base of the altar:

¹⁸ He slew also the ox and the ram, the sacrifice of peace offerings, which was for the people: and Aaron’s sons delivered unto him the blood, and he sprinkled it upon the altar round about,

¹⁴ and he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy-seat on the east; and before the mercy-seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times. ¹⁵ Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with his blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy-seat, and before the mercy-seat: ¹⁶ and he shall make atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleannesses of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, even all their sins: and so shall he do for the tent of meeting, that dwelleth with them in the midst of their uncleannesses. ¹⁷ And there shall be no man in the tent of meeting when he goeth in to make atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel. ¹⁸ And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD, and make atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about. ¹⁹ And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleannesses of the children of Israel.

¹⁹ Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away when he trespassed, have we prepared and sanctified; and, behold, they are before the altar of the LORD. ²⁰ Then Hezekiah the king arose early, and gathered the princes of the city, and went up to the house of the LORD. ²¹ And they brought seven bullocks; and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he-goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom and for the sanctuary and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of the LORD. ²² So they killed the bullocks, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: and they killed the rams, and sprinkled the blood upon the altar: they killed also the lambs, and sprinkled the blood upon the altar.

¹⁸ And he said unto me, Son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD: These are the ordinances of the altar in the day when they shall make it, to offer burnt offerings thereon, and to sprinkle blood thereon. ¹⁹ Thou shalt give to the priests the Levites that be of the seed of Zadok, which are near unto me, to minister unto me, saith the Lord GOD, a young bullock for a sin offering. ²⁰ And thou shalt take of the blood thereof, and put it on the four horns of it, and on the four corners of the settle, and upon the border round about: thus shalt thou cleanse it and make atonement for it. ²¹ Thou shalt also take the bullock of the sin offering, and he shall burn it in the appointed place of the house, without the sanctuary. ²² And on the second day thou shalt offer a he-goat without blemish for a sin offering; and they shall cleanse the altar, as they did cleanse it with the bullock. ²³ When thou hast made an end of cleansing it, thou shalt offer a young bullock without blemish, and a ram out of the flock without blemish. ²⁴ And thou shalt bring them near before the LORD, and the priests shall cast salt upon them, and they shall offer them up for a burnt offering unto the LORD. ²⁵ Seven days shalt thou prepare every day a goat for a sin offering: they shall also prepare a young bullock, and a ram out of the flock, without blemish. ²⁶ Seven days shall they make atonement for the altar and purify it; so shall they consecrate it.

²⁰ Thus shall he do with the bullock; as he did with the bullock of the sin offering, so shall he do with this: and the priest shall make atonement for them, and they shall be forgiven.

²⁶ And all the fat thereof shall he burn upon the altar, as the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings: and the priest shall make atonement for him as concerning his sin, and he shall be forgiven.

³⁵ and all the fat thereof shall he take away, as the fat of the lamb is taken away from the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall burn them on the altar, upon the offerings of the LORD made by fire: and the priest shall make atonement for him as touching his sin that he hath sinned, and he shall be forgiven.

¹⁰ And he shall offer the second for a burnt offering, according to the ordinance: and the priest shall make atonement for him as concerning his sin which he hath sinned, and he shall be forgiven.

¹² And he shall bring it to the priest, and the priest shall take his handful of it as the memorial thereof, and burn it on the altar, upon the offerings of the LORD made by fire: it is a sin offering.

⁷ and the priest shall make atonement for him before the LORD, and he shall be forgiven; concerning whatsoever he doeth so as to be guilty thereby.

⁶ as for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water:

¹⁴ and the priest shall take of the blood of the guilt offering, and the priest shall put it upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot:

²⁵ and he shall kill the lamb of the guilt offering, and the priest shall take of the blood of the guilt offering, and put it upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot:

¹¹ For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh atonement by reason of the life.

²⁶ Behoved it not the Christ to suffer these things, and to enter into his glory?

⁴⁶ and he said unto them, Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead the third day;

³ And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also.

¹⁷ which are a shadow of the things to come; but the body is Christ’s.

⁵ who serve [that which is] a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, even as Moses is warned [of God] when he is about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern that was shewed thee in the mount.

⁹ which [is] a parable for the time [now] present; according to which are offered both gifts and sacrifices that cannot, as touching the conscience, make the worshipper perfect, ¹⁰ [being] only (with meats and drinks and divers washings) carnal ordinances, imposed until a time of reformation. ¹¹ But Christ having come a high priest of the good things to come, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation, ¹² nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption.

¹⁰ By which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. ¹¹ And every priest indeed standeth day by day ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, the which can never take away sins: ¹² but he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; ¹³ from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made the footstool of his feet. ¹⁴ For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. ¹⁵ And the Holy Ghost also beareth witness to us: for after he hath said, ¹⁶ This is the covenant that I will make with them After those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws on their heart, And upon their mind also will I write them; [then saith he], ¹⁷ And their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

¹⁹ but with precious blood, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, [even the blood] of Christ: ²⁰ who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but was manifested at the end of the times for your sake, ²¹ who through him are believers in God, which raised him from the dead, and gave him glory; so that your faith and hope might be in God.

¹² And thou shalt put the two stones upon the shoulderpieces of the ephod, to be stones of memorial for the children of Israel: and Aaron shall bear their names before the LORD upon his two shoulders for a memorial.

²⁹ And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his heart, when he goeth in unto the holy place, for a memorial before the LORD continually.

¹⁸ Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led [thy] captivity captive; thou hast received gifts among men, yea, [among] the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell [with them].

¹ And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to be his adversary.

¹⁹ So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken unto them, was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.

⁵¹ And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven.

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. ²⁰ The Jews therefore said, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou raise it up in three days? ²¹ But he spake of the temple of his body.

⁶² [What] then if ye should behold the Son of man ascending where he was before?

²⁸ I came out from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go unto the Father.

⁹ And when he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. ¹⁰ And while they were looking stedfastly into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; ¹¹ which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye looking into heaven? this Jesus, which was received up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye beheld him going into heaven.

²¹ whom the heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, whereof God spake by the mouth of his holy prophets which have been since the world began.

³³ Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth;

²⁰ which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly [places], ²¹ far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: ²² and he put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things to the church,

⁸ Wherefore he saith, When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, And gave gifts unto men. ⁹ (Now this, He ascended, what is it but that he also descended into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He that descended is the same also that ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) ¹¹ And he gave some [to be] apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

² Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are upon the earth.

²⁰ whither as a forerunner Jesus entered for us, having become a high priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.

²⁵ Wherefore also he is able to save to the uttermost them that draw near unto God through him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. ²⁶ For such a high priest became us, holy, guileless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

²³ It was necessary therefore that the copies of the things in the heavens should be cleansed with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

² looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of [our] faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and hath sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

²² who is on the right hand of God, having gone into heaven; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

¹ My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye may not sin. And if any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: ² and he is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the whole world.

² and the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the veil, before the mercy-seat which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy-seat. ³ Herewith shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering. ⁴ He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with the linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: they are the holy garments; and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and put them on. ⁵ And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two he-goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering. ⁶ And Aaron shall present the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make atonement for himself, and for his house. ⁷ And he shall take the two goats, and set them before the LORD at the door of the tent of meeting. ⁸ And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for Azazel. ⁹ And Aaron shall present the goat upon which the lot fell for the LORD, and offer him for a sin offering. ¹⁰ But the goat, on which the lot fell for Azazel, shall be set alive before the LORD, to make atonement for him, to send him away for Azazel into the wilderness. ¹¹ And Aaron shall present the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself: ¹² and he shall take a censer full of coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil: ¹³ and he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy-seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not: ¹⁴ and he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy-seat on the east; and before the mercy-seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times. ¹⁵ Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the veil, and do with his blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy-seat, and before the mercy-seat: ¹⁶ and he shall make atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleannesses of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions, even all their sins: and so shall he do for the tent of meeting, that dwelleth with them in the midst of their uncleannesses. ¹⁷ And there shall be no man in the tent of meeting when he goeth in to make atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel. ¹⁸ And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD, and make atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about. ¹⁹ And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleannesses of the children of Israel. ²⁰ And when he hath made an end of atoning for the holy place, and the tent of meeting, and the altar, he shall present the live goat: ²¹ and Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions, even all their sins; and he shall put them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a man that is in readiness into the wilderness: ²² and the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a solitary land: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness. ²³ And Aaron shall come into the tent of meeting, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there: ²⁴ and he shall bathe his flesh in water in a holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people, and make atonement for himself and for the people. ²⁵ And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar. ²⁶ And he that letteth go the goat for Azazel shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp. ²⁷ And the bullock of the sin offering, and the goat of the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall be carried forth without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung. ²⁸ And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp. ²⁹ And it shall be a statute for ever unto you: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and shall do no manner of work, the homeborn, or the stranger that sojourneth among you: ³⁰ for on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you; from all your sins shall ye be clean before the LORD. ³¹ It is a sabbath of solemn rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls; it is a statute for ever. ³² And the priest, who shall be anointed and who shall be consecrated to be priest in his father’s stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen garments, even the holy garments: ³³ and he shall make atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make atonement for the tent of meeting and for the altar; and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly. ³⁴ And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make atonement for the children of Israel because of all their sins once in the year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.

²⁶ else must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once at the end of the ages hath he been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

¹⁰ By which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

¹³ And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.

¹⁰ And David’s heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto the LORD, I have sinned greatly in that I have done: but now, O LORD, put away, I beseech thee, the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

²¹ And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away mine iniquity? for now shall I lie down in the dust; and thou shall seek me diligently, but I shall not be.

² And it shall come to pass in the latter days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.

¹⁴ Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for the vision is yet for [many] days.

¹ But in the latter days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and peoples shall flow unto it.

²⁹ On the morrow he seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold, the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world!

²⁴ Father, that which thou hast given me, I will that, where I am, they also may be with me; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

¹¹ Now these things happened unto them by way of example; and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come.

¹ But I say that so long as the heir is a child, he differeth nothing from a bondservant, though he is lord of all;

² hath at the end of these days spoken unto us in [his] Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds;

³ For we which have believed do enter into that rest; even as he hath said, As I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

¹² but he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

²⁶ For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more a sacrifice for sins,

²⁰ who was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but was manifested at the end of the times for your sake,

⁸ And all that dwell on the earth shall worship him, [every one] whose name hath not been written in the book of life of the Lamb that hath been slain from the foundation of the world.

⁸ The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and is about to come up out of the abyss, and to go into perdition. And they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, [they] whose name hath not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast, how that he was, and is not, and shall come.

¹⁹ in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

¹⁴ For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God take away life, but deviseth means, that he that is banished be not an outcast from him.

⁵ Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months is with thee, and thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;

²⁵ But I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand up at the last upon the earth:

²³ For I know that thou wilt bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all living.

⁴⁸ What man is he that shall live and not see death, that shall deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah

²⁰ All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

⁵ For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

¹⁰ Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do [it] with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

⁹ Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

⁷ and the dust return to the earth as it was, and the spirit return unto God who gave it.

¹⁴ For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every hidden thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil.

³¹ But when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory: ³² and before him shall be gathered all the nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats: ³³ and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. ³⁴ Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: ³⁵ for I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in; ³⁶ naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. ³⁷ Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or athirst, and gave thee drink? ³⁸ And when saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? ³⁹ And when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? ⁴⁰ And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it unto one of these my brethren, [even] these least, ye did it unto me. ⁴¹ Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels: ⁴² for I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: ⁴³ I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye clothed me not; sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. ⁴⁴ Then shall they also answer, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? ⁴⁵ Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not unto one of these least, ye did it not unto me. ⁴⁶ And these shall go away into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life.

²⁶ For as the Father hath life in himself, even so gave he to the Son also to have life in himself: ²⁷ and he gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of man. ²⁸ Marvel not at this: for the hour cometh, in which all that are in the tombs shall hear his voice, ²⁹ And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done ill, unto the resurrection of judgment.

³¹ inasmuch as he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by the man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

⁵ but after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up for thyself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

¹² Therefore, as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin; and so death passed unto all men, for that all sinned:—

⁹ For to this end Christ died, and lived [again], that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living. ¹⁰ But thou, why dost thou judge thy brother? or thou again, why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment-seat of God. ¹¹ For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, to me every knee shall bow, And every tongue shall confess to God. ¹² So then each one of us shall give account of himself to God.

⁵ Wherefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each man have his praise from God.

¹⁰ For we must all be made manifest before the judgment-seat of Christ; that each one may receive the things [done] in the body, according to what he hath done, whether [it be] good or bad.

¹ I charge [thee] in the sight of God, and of Christ Jesus, who shall judge the quick and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom;

¹⁵ to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their works of ungodliness which they have ungodly wrought, and of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

¹¹ And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat upon it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

¹⁷ Wherefore have ye not eaten the sin offering in the place of the sanctuary, seeing it is most holy, and he hath given it you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before the LORD?

¹ And the LORD said unto Aaron, Thou and thy sons and thy fathers’ house with thee shall bear the iniquity of the sanctuary: and thou and thy sons with thee shall bear the iniquity of your priesthood.

²³ But the Levites shall do the service of the tent of meeting, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, and among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.

⁹ And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

⁴ Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. ⁵ But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. ⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

⁵ And ye shall flee by the valley of my mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azel: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the holy ones with thee.

¹¹ which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye looking into heaven? this Jesus, which was received up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye beheld him going into heaven.

¹⁵ But not as the trespass, so also [is] the free gift. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God, and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound unto the many.

¹⁰ For the death that he died, he died unto sin once: but the life that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

³ For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and [as an offering] for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

²³ And not only so, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for [our] adoption, [to wit], the redemption of our body.

⁷ so that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ;

⁵⁴ But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

²⁰ For our citizenship is in heaven; from whence also we wait for a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: ²¹ who shall fashion anew the body of our humiliation, [that it may be] conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working whereby he is able even to subject all things unto himself.

¹⁴ For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also that are fallen asleep in Jesus will God bring with him. ¹⁵ For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we that are alive, that are left unto the coming of the Lord, shall in no wise precede them that are fallen asleep. ¹⁶ For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: ¹⁷ then we that are alive, that are left, shall together with them be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

⁵ [which is] a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God; to the end that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: ⁶ if so be that it is a righteous thing with God to recompense affliction to them that afflict you, ⁷ and to you that are afflicted rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with the angels of his power ⁸ in flaming fire, rendering vengeance to them that know not God, and to them that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus: ⁹ who shall suffer punishment, [even] eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might, ¹⁰ when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at in all them that believed (because our testimony unto you was believed) in that day.

¹ Now we beseech you, brethren, touching the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together unto him;

⁸ henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give to me at that day: and not only to me, but also to all them that have loved his appearing.

¹³ looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ;

²⁵ nor yet that he should offer himself often; as the high priest entereth into the holy place year by year with blood not his own;

¹² looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, by reason of which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

² Beloved, now are we children of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be. We know that, if he shall be manifested, we shall be like him; for we shall see him even as he is.

⁷ Behold, he cometh with the clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they which pierced him; and all the tribes of the earth shall mourn over him. Even so, Amen.
