²² And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.

⁴ And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he ministered unto him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.

⁶ And he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand; and he knew not aught [that was] with him, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was comely, and well favoured. ⁷ And it came to pass after these things, that his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.

⁹ there is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

³ And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound. ⁴ And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he ministered unto them: and they continued a season in ward.

³⁰ Therefore the LORD, the God of Israel, saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

³ Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land, and follow after faithfulness.

¹¹ But the meek shall inherit the land; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
