¹⁷ And the appearance of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.

² And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

¹⁸ And mount Sinai was altogether on smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

²⁴ For the LORD thy God is a devouring fire, a jealous God.

⁴ And [his] brightness was as the light; he had rays [coming forth] from his hand: and there was the hiding of his power. ⁵ Before him went the pestilence, and fiery bolts went forth at his feet.

¹⁸ For ye are not come unto [a mount] that might be touched, and that burned with fire, and unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,

²⁹ for our God is a consuming fire.
