²⁷ For they that dwell in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath, fulfilled [them] by condemning [him].

²⁰ And as for you, ye meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

²⁹ But Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

⁵⁴ How then should the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be? ⁵⁵ In that hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a robber with swords and staves to seize me? I sat daily in the temple teaching, and ye took me not. ⁵⁶ But all this is come to pass, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples left him, and fled.

³⁴ And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, until thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

²⁰ and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him.

²⁴ And certain of them that were with us went to the tomb, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. ²⁵ And he said unto them, O foolish men, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! ²⁶ Behoved it not the Christ to suffer these things, and to enter into his glory? ²⁷ And beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

⁴⁴ And he said unto them, These are my words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, how that all things must needs be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me. ⁴⁵ Then opened he their mind, that they might understand the scriptures;

²⁸ Jesus therefore said, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am [he], and [that] I do nothing of myself, but as the Father taught me, I speak these things.

²¹ But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.

³ And these things will they do, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

²⁸ After this Jesus, knowing that all things are now finished, that the scripture might be accomplished, saith, I thirst. ²⁹ There was set there a vessel full of vinegar: so they put a sponge full of the vinegar upon hyssop, and brought it to his mouth. ³⁰ When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up his spirit.

³⁶ For these things came to pass, that the scripture might be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. ³⁷ And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

¹⁷ And now, brethren, I wot that in ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers.

¹⁴ But they, passing through from Perga, came to Antioch of Pisidia; and they went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down. ¹⁵ And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.

²¹ For Moses from generations of old hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath.

²² Having therefore obtained the help that is from God, I stand unto this day testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses did say should come; ²³ how that the Christ must suffer, [and] how that he first by the resurrection of the dead should proclaim light both to the people and to the Gentiles.

²³ And when they had appointed him a day, they came to him into his lodging in great number; to whom he expounded [the matter], testifying the kingdom of God, and persuading them concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses and from the prophets, from morning till evening.

⁸ according as it is written, God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, unto this very day. ⁹ And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, And a stumblingblock, and a recompense unto them: ¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, And bow thou down their back alway.

²⁵ For I would not, brethren, have you ignorant of this mystery, lest ye be wise in your own conceits, that a hardening in part hath befallen Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in;

⁸ which none of the rulers of this world knoweth: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory:

¹⁴ but their minds were hardened: for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remaineth unlifted; which [veil] is done away in Christ.

⁴ in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn [upon them].

¹³ though I was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: howbeit I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief;
