¹³ I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee:

²⁸ And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou.

¹⁴ I will be his father, and he shall be my son: if he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men; ¹⁵ but my mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee. ¹⁶ And thine house and thy kingdom shall be made sure for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

¹² Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it, for David thy father’s sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son. ¹³ Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but I will give one tribe to thy son, for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.

³⁶ And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a lamp alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.

¹⁴ and inquired not of the LORD: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.

¹² He shall build me an house, and I will establish his throne for ever.

⁷ I will tell of the decree: the LORD said unto me, Thou art my son; this day have I begotten thee.

¹² Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, for his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

²⁶ He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation. ²⁷ I also will make him [my] firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth. ²⁸ My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him. ²⁹ His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven. ³⁰ If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments; ³¹ If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments; ³² Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. ³³ But my mercy will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. ³⁴ My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. ³⁵ Once have I sworn by my holiness; I will not lie unto David; ³⁶ His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me. ³⁷ It shall be established for ever as the moon, and [as] the faithful witness in the sky. Selah

³ Incline your ear, and come unto me; hear, and your soul shall live: and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

³² He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

³⁵ And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my Son, my chosen: hear ye him.

³⁵ The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.

¹⁸ And will be to you a Father, And ye shall be to me sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

⁵ For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, This day have I begotten thee? and again, I will be to him a Father, And he shall be to me a Son?
