²⁰ ¶ He that has a perverse heart shall never find good, and he that stirs up trouble with his tongue shall fall into evil.

²⁶ with the pure thou wilt show thyself pure; and with the perverse thou wilt show thyself adversary.

³² For the perverse is an abomination to the LORD; but his secret is with the righteous.

¹² ¶ A wicked man of Belial walks with a perverse mouth. ¹³ He winks with his eyes, he speaks with his feet, he teaches with his fingers; ¹⁴ there is perversion in his heart; he devises evil continually; he sows discord. ¹⁵ Therefore his calamity shall come suddenly; suddenly he shall be broken without remedy.

¹³ The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; pride, arrogancy, the evil way, and the perverse mouth, do I hate.

¹⁰ ¶ He that winks with the eye causes sorrow, and he that speaks foolishness shall fall.

¹⁴ ¶ Wise men keep knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near unto calamity.

⁶ ¶ A fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for strokes. ⁷ A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.

¹² ¶ The words from the mouth of the wise man are grace, but the lips of the fool will swallow up himself.

⁶ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body and sets on fire the course of our nature; and it is set on fire of hell. ⁷ For every nature of beasts and of birds and of serpents and of beings in the sea may be tamed and is tamed by mankind, ⁸ but no man can tame the tongue, which is an evil that cannot be restrained and is full of deadly poison.
