²⁹ ¶ The evil man flatters his neighbour and leads him into the way that is not good.

¹¹ ¶ Saul also sent messengers unto David’s house to watch him and to slay him in the morning. But Michal, David’s wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life tonight, tomorrow thou shalt be dead.

¹⁷ And Saul said unto Michal, Why hast thou deceived me so and sent away my enemy that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said unto me, Let me go; if not, I shall kill thee.

⁷ then Saul said unto his slaves that stood about him, Hear now, ye sons of Jemini, will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards and make you all captains of thousands and captains of hundreds ⁸ that all of you have conspired against me, and there is no one that shows me that my son has made a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me or shows unto me that my son has stirred up my slave against me, to lie in wait against me, as at this day? ⁹ Then Doeg, the Edomite, who was set over the slaves of Saul, answered and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob to Ahimelech, the son of Ahitub.

¹⁹ ¶ Then those of Ziph came to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the woods in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the right hand side of the wilderness? ²⁰ Now, therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down, and our part shall be to deliver him into the king’s hand. ²¹ And Saul said, Blessed are ye of the LORD, for ye have compassion on me.

¹³ For he was bribed to make me be thus afraid and sin and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me.

¹⁰ ¶ My son, if sinners entice thee, do not consent. ¹¹ If they say, Come with us, let us lay in wait for blood; let us ambush the innocent without cause. ¹² Let us swallow them up alive as Sheol and whole as those that go down into the pit; ¹³ We shall find all kinds of riches, we shall fill our houses with spoil. ¹⁴ Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:

¹² to deliver thee from the evil way, from the man that speaks perversion, ¹³ who leave the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness, ¹⁴ who rejoice to do evil and delight in wicked perversion, ¹⁵ whose ways are crooked, and they are crooked in their paths;

³¹ Envy thou not the oppressor and choose none of his ways.

²⁶ ¶ The righteous causes his neighbour to consider: but the way of the wicked causes them to err.

¹⁷ Ye, therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things in advance, be on guard lest by the error of the wicked ye be deceived with the others and fall from your own steadfastness.
